HERE IS THE REMAINING PORTION OF CHAPTER 28. I REALLY LOVED THE FOLLOWING CONVERSATION BETWEEN JIANG LI AND XIAO YAN.

HE, WHO MAY LOOK AND SOUND COLD AND INDIFFERENT, WAS ABLE TO GAUGE HER MENTAL DILEMMA, HER OVERSENSITIVE ATTITUDE SO PERFECTLY. AND WAS SLOWLY & GRADUALLY BUILDING UP HER CONFIDENCE. I COULD ALSO SEE THE GLIMPSE OF HIS FEELINGS FOR HER THOUGH AT THIS POINT OF STORY ITS HARD TO COMMENT ABOUT THE DEPTH OF THOSE FEELINGS.
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS THINK, ENJOY THE READ!
Me: âWhat if your former lover was lying naked on your bed, what would you do?â

Jiang Li: âThrow him out.â

Me: âI donât believe you. How can you let such kind of temptation go in vain?â

Jiang Li: âIf not, then I will click some pictures. They may come handy in future.â

Me: âYou are really despicable!â

Jiang Li: âForget about that. I will prosecute him for trespassing and sexual assault.â

Me:âŚâŚ

I mentally kowtowed to his word âSexual assault.â

Jiang Li added: âXiao Guan Yan the problem is that you are way too dedicated and extremely clingy.â

I scratched my head and innocently said: âAh, no actually the people are around me are way too flexible.â

Jiang Li: âIn your consciousness leaving equals to abandoning and abandoning amounts to betrayal. So, if somebody leaves you it means he betrayed you.â

I blinked: âIs it like not so?â

Jiang Li shook his head: âWho defined this that if someone is with you then he must stay for life and cannot leave you? And even if he leaves you then also he hasnât done anything wrong, perhaps itâs you who has chosen the wrong guy.â

I was completely speechless for a long time and finally said: âHe told me âŚ.that he would stay with me foreverâŚâ

Jiang Li looked at me as if he hated the iron for not becoming steel* and shook his head strongly: âHow old are you, how can you believe such words? Most of the times such kind of promises are not even worth the price of cow dung.â

*Original text was ć¨éä¸ćé˘ Which literally means to hate iron for not becoming steel and figuratively to feel resentful towards the subject for failing to meet expectations and impatient to see any improvement.

I was stunned. Ah, he was right, what was a promise? He Zhi and I always broke our words. It was hard to keep small and trivial promises let alone promise of a lifetime. Such kind of words was nothing but sweet things to hear. Now I found it really funny, how I took Yu Zhi Feiâs promise so seriously in the past.

âJiang Li, I will not anymore.â

Jiang Li: âWhat?â

Me: âI will not believe in anyoneâs promise.â

Jiang Li: âIn fact occasionally you can trust me as I have always been the man of a good character.â

Me: âI canât find any relation between you and good character. I haven't even seen the dawn
of your so called character.â

Narrowing his eyes, he threatened: âReally?â

I trembled and quickly corrected my words: âNo, no. you have a very good character. Actually super good character.â

I did not even have the freedom of speech and there he was, shamelessly boasting about his âgood character,â what crap!!!!

Before going to bed at night, I sent a text message to that strange number: âYes, I am really happy and my happiness has nothing to do with YOU.â
As I finished speaking I immediately turned to look at Jiang Li, waiting for his critique. I angrily glared at him, mentally screeching what would you say now? Ah, that I was a rotten woman*? So, he was allowed to do whatever he wished with men and I did not ev

Jiang Li kept on driving leisurely and in a very casual manner asked: âWhat was your online friend; I donât remember his name, doing here? He seems to really care about you.â

Me: âYes, why, are you jealous?â

I had always been skeptical about Jiang Liâs attitude towards Wang Kai, apart from superficial aversion perhaps there was an underlying desire also. Although Wang Kaiâs personality was not likable but in terms of appearance he was one of the best looking guys in the country.

After listening to my words Jiang Li laughed out loud and said: âYeah, I am jealous. So why donât you figure out a way to stay away from him?â

Figure out a way to stay away from my boss? How was that possible? Oh God, I got a salary hike today only and I really did not want to quit my job. Was this some kind of joke or something, in order to extinguish Jiang Liâs fire of envy must this old lady let go of her recently doubled wages? Thinking like this, I firmly shook my head: âYou want me to resign, not likely."

"Well." Jiang Li gave a monosyllable reply and then nothing happened.

I was a little scared. Jiang Li, this man, could murder a person without spilling a drop of blood, cold, underhanded and subtle that was how he handled things. If he decides to get back at me, what would I do?

Ah, dogâs leg*âŚâŚSo I smiled and said "Well, next time I will trick him to home and then leave him at your disposal."

*The original text was gÇu tuÇ zi which literally means dog's leg and figuratively one who follows a villain / henchman / hired thug

"No need," Jiang Li shook his head, "I am not interested in this kind of stuff.â

Oh, it turned out that Wang Kai was not up to his standard. In my head suddenly an image of Xue Yun flashed, a fine male beauty, so delicious ah.

Jiang Li just drove silently, no longer saying anything to me. By now, we were almost home, when he abruptly asked: "Is your friend Wang related to Wang Cheng Hai in any way?â

My forehead furrowed as I started thinking deeply: âWang Cheng Hai? This name sounds really familiar.â

Jiang Li explained: "Wang Cheng Hai is a major shareholder of the Southern Star Alliance. Your company is also a subject of this Southern Star Alliance.â

I slapped my forehead and spoke my thoughts out loud: "Yes, Wang Cheng Hai is his father."

Suddenly, the car came to a screeching halt. Since I wasnât mentally prepared for it so I was completely shocked.

I turned around and was about to question Jiang Li, but discovered that with a somewhat dangerous glint in his eyes he was looking at me. In normal circumstances, this type of look implied Xiao Guan Yan made a mistake and Jiang Li was dissatisfied. I glanced at Jiang Li fearfully then bowed my head down, could not dare to look at him. Although I did not know what my mistake was, butâŚ..I was scaredâŚ..

Xiao Guan Yan was indeed good for nothing.

"Xiao Guan Yan" Jiang Li's voice rang out, husky and sultry, my poor little heart fluttered badly in my chest: âYou have become so much better at seducing, huh?â

Whoa, apparently he was dead set on seducing me! Whereas I was relentlessly resisting his charms!!

In the evening I was peeling apples for Jiang LiâŚâŚ.well, this was my position in this house. He was the big lord of the house. The capitalist, he wouldnât stop till he squeezes out all the sweat and blood from my body. If you are wondering how was he able to make me, Xiao Guan Yan work for him so obediently? Then the answer was simple, are you kidding me, you think that if I, Xiao Guan Yan, fight back then I will be able to win against Jiang Li? Forget about one; even ten Xiao Guan Yan will not be able to beat one Jiang Li!

Oh God, just thinking about this grieves my heart to no extent. Without saying anything and without thinking anything I simply concentrated on peeling the apple. If itâs not cut properly then the Jiang Li wouldnât be happy and then the consequences would be very serious!

I was half way through in the peeling process when suddenly my mobile phone rang. It was a message. I looked piteously at Jiang Li, could he allow the poor little me to check the message? He swept a glance at me and then waved his hand slightly, a gesture to grant me the permission.

I put down the apple, held my phone up to read the message. It was from a strange number.

The content of the message was very succinct: âYan Yan, are you really happy?â

Jiang Li picked up the half peeled apple and started peeling the rest of it: âWhose message?â

Staring at that strange phone number I said: "Yu Zhi Fei.â In this world there was only one person who addressed me as âYan Yan.â

Jiang Li did not stop his actions and without lifting his head he said: âThen?â

I looked down at the string of those six words: âthen, just saying hello.â

âOh.â Someone continued peeling his apple.

I stared at Yu Zhi Feiâs text for a moment and then suddenly spoke: âJiang Li, I think all this is nonsense.â

âUhâŚ.huh?â Jiang Li looked at me, puzzled.

âI mean all this acting in front of Yu Zhi Fei does not make any sense. You also said that we have been separated for four years and whatever feelings we had have already turned into ashes. So, why am I still engaged in exacting this needless revenge? Even I find it tasteless and silly.â

Jiang Li, who had already peeled the apple completely, started cutting it into slices.

He carefully cut the apple and in a completely indifferent tone said: âYes, you are very silly.â

Hey!!!!

Me: âJiang Li, if you encounter your old flame then what would you do?â

Jiang Li: âYou should tell where only then I can answer what I will do.â What crap was he spewing now?

Me: âWhat if your former lover was lying naked on your bed, what would you do?â

Jiang Li: âThrow him out.â
Me: âI donât believe you. How can you let such kind of temptation go in vain?â
Jiang Li holding an umbrella came to the main gate of our company. He looked at me and then glanced at Yu Zhi Fei, who was standing beside me and ultimately his eyes wandered off to Wang Kai who was standing under a gaudy umbrellaâŚ.that umbrella was really too eye-catching.

Jiang Li suddenly reached over and pulled me into his arms and then using a voice typical of chiung yaoâs* male lead said: âSorry, I am a bit late.â

* chiung yao is the pen name of a popular Chinese romance novelist based in Taiwan. Many of her works have been made and remade into movies and TV series.

I trembled a little; my heart couldnât help but sigh at Jiang Liâs extremely polished and impromptu performance.

And yet, he brushed off my hair from my forehead and planted a passionate kiss on it and then said: âHoney, are you cold?â

I was somewhat shivering. Originally it was not that cold but his one âHoneyâ was more than enough to freeze my heart and my body.

Chuckling softly Jiang Li pinched my cheeks. Then he took off his coat and covered me with it, popped open his umbrella, hugged me and walked us in the rain.

My head was pressed firmly against Jiang Liâs chest and I could not turn itâŚso I was not able to see Yu Zhi Feiâs reaction about our âaffectionâ, was there any frustration on his face or not?

Jiang Li bowed down his head till his forehead touched mine and in a gravely tone said: âNo need to look, you won.â

I raised my hand and very energetically rubbed his forehead, it was your win my advisor!!

Jiang Li looked down at me, smiled wickedly and said: âAw, you are blushing.â

Nonsense, it was due to my anger, anger!!!

âBut the way you blushâ He paused, struggling to find the right words âit looks stupid.â

Whoa, what the hell!! Although my patience level was high but this blatant provocation by Jiang Li I was not going to ignore. I would be damned if I donât retort back. He did not know what this woman was capable of! So, I clenched my jaw in determination and decided to stomp my heel on Jiang Liâs foot.

Jiang Li, as if he already knew my intention, stepped forward to avoid my attack. I, in my attempt of slaughter missed the step and lost my balanceâŚâŚto save myself from falling, impudently embraced Jiang Li, simply clung to his body.

Jiang Li frowned and said: âJust now I was wrong.â

Wow, Did the great Jiang Li realize and admit his mistake? These words really came out of his mouth? Indeed violence is the key to all the problemsâŚ.

Jiang Li: âYou donât look stupid but you are actually very stupid!â

I, bit my teeth hard, but had no words to refute him.

Jiang Li, completely ignoring my dissatisfaction, directly shoved me into the car and then left.

While lying in my seat I looked at Yu Zhi Fei and Wang Kai through side mirror. At this point both of them were standing together. Apparently I was really keen to look at them. Due to the heavy rain the view was not clear but looking at the silhouette of those two people I suddenly felt emotional and muttered: âBoth of them make a very good match.â

As I finished speaking I immediately turned to look at Jiang Li, waiting for his critique. I angrily glared at him, mentally screeching what would you say now? Ah, that I was a rotten woman*?

I was still in a trance when suddenly someone shook my arm. A very familiar voice resounded: âXiao Guan Yan, idiot, for how long are you going to stay here?â

Without lifting my eyes up I said: âI beg your pardon but Director Wang we are in the middle of a meetingâŚ.â

Suppressing his laugh Wang Kai said: âIdiot, the meeting had ended long ago. Everybody has left.â

I raised my head up and found that his words were indeed true. Now it was only two of us in the meeting room.

Wang Kai inquisitively asked: âXiao Yan whatâs there on your neck? Just now Director Yu was looking at your neck as if he has lost his soul.â

My face instantly burned red. Bowing my head further down I stammered: âTha thatâŚ.that I donât knowâ

Seeing how embarrassed I was Wang Kai became more curious: âXiao Guan Yan, you are not aiming for the heart of Gem of marketing team, Yu Zhi Fei, Are you?â As he spoke these words he leaned in closer to check my neck for something.

I subconsciously embraced my neck: âDirector Wang, can I go back now?â

Wang Kai simply ignored my words, grabbing both my wrists simultaneously extricated my hands from my neck with an ease and then glanced at my neck.

I was so ashamed that I almost kowtowed. I was waiting for him to laugh at me.

I waited for a few minutes but did not hear any sound. So I looked up at him. Wang Kai was standing very calmly with a blank face even his usual wretched expressions were missing.

I struggled to snatch my wrists back from his grip but that annoying fellow had held them too tightly, damn!

I became a bit impatient: âDirector Wang, you arenât planning to kidnap your own secretary, are you?â
Wang Kai still clutching my wrists chuckled lightly and said: âXiao Guan Yan, what kind of aphrodisiac did you feed your husband last night?â

Your motherâŚ!!!

I knew it, how could one find ivory in a dogâs mouth!! I was about to contradict his words when suddenly the conference roomâs door opened and a man barged in.

I glanced in that direction, huh, Yu Zhi Fei!

Seeing us Yu Zhi Fei was absolutely stunned. I discovered that currently the distance between Wang Kai and me was too narrow. Wang Kai was standing right behind me; his chest was almost glued to my back. AndâŚhe was holding my hands.

In short, it was really hard for anyone to not misunderstand this sort of situation.

I used all my power to push off Wang Kai a bit, eyes flickering in panic.

Wang Kai very casually asked: âDirector Yu, is there any problem?â

Yu Zhi Fei very calmly replied: âI left something here.â As he spoke these words, he started walking towards the seat beside mine. I gave a fleeting glance to the seat and noticed a stack of documents on the table. It seemed he truly had forgotten something here.

As Yu Zhi Fei grabbed his folder Wang Kai, very untimely, approached my ear, smiled sinisterly and suddenly whispered: âXiao Guan Yan, did it hurt last night?â

Hearing his words my hair almost stood erect. What the hell was he spewing! Did he really wish for me to die of anger, only then he would feel satisfied!

I was busy shooting glares at Wang Kai while Yu Zhi Fei simply picked up his stuff and without
uttering a word left the room.

âWang Kai, are you tired of leaving?â

âOf course not, Yan Yan, next time I will definitely be gentler.â

âYou are still saying rubbish!â

âah ah ah ahâŚ..hey are you going to murder your leader?â

âShut your nonsense, I am going to kill you.â

âah ah ah ah ah ah ahâŚ.ah, I am your boss, donât you want your job anymore?â

âToday, No one, not even my old mother, can stop me from resigning!â

âah ah ahâŚI was going to give you raise and you want to resignâŚâ

âRaise, how much?â

âHow about ten percent? Ah ah ah ah ahâŚâŚtwenty, thirty, okay? âŚah ah ah ah fifty and final!...ah ah ah double, doubled your current salary! Plus other perks and allowancesâŚâ I placed a pen in his hands and made him sign on the paper. Feeling contented I clapped my hands and then, patting Wang Kaiâs shoulder, I chuckled wholeheartedly and said: âDouble salary, starting tomorrow.â

With his head hung low Wang Kai somberly hummed twice.

Wow, hahaha, No wonder Jiang Li loved to bully people. Bullying others was indeed refreshing!

By the time I finished up my work it was already dark outside and all of a sudden it started drizzling.
I stood in front of the companyâs main gate like the Amah rock* and looked at the vehicle, coming and going, on the other side of the gate. I waited for quite a while but there was no sign of Jiang LiâŚ.normally he would always come by this time.

* Amah Rock (Chinese: ć复çł,Mong Fu Shek, lit. "the stone gazing out for her husband") is a naturally shaped rock located on a hilltop in southwest Sha Tin, Hong Kong. According to a legend, the faithful wife of a fisherman climbed the hills every day, carrying her son, to watch for the return of her husband, not knowing he had been drowned at sea. In reward for her faithfulness she was turned into a rock by the Goddess of the Sea so that her spirit could unite with that of her husband.

Oh Dear God, finding this rain too troublesome this guy, Jiang Li, must have decided to not come.

After confirming this speculation I started feeling frustrated, at the time of need not even his silhouette was in sight. Although this rain was neither too heavy nor too light but if I got drenched in the current fall weather then the chances of escaping cold were null. Cold always get accompanied by headache, for the treatment I would have to start taking medicines and if the medicines fails then there would be only one option: InjectionsâŚâŚ..I was getting scared of my own thoughts so I stopped thinking further.

As I was vacillating between the decisions of whether or not should I step out in the rain Yu Zhi Fei suddenly appeared in front of me. Carrying an umbrella in his hands he lowered his head to look at me. He opened his mouth several times and then finally said: âYanâŚSecretary Guan, I can drop you.â

I shook my head, I would rather take an injection for cold than get a help from him.

Yu Zhi Fei regained his composure and added: âI am saying this from the standing of your colleague that I can drop you to your place.â

I was yet to give any response when I heard somebodyâs voice from behind: âWhat other standing do you have, Director Yu?â

I turned my head to find Wang Kai with a smile plastered over his face.

Wang Kai holding an eye-catching umbrella in one hand waved a âhiâ from the other hand and started walking towards us. Considering how much I had bullied Wang Kai today I timidly started looking into the opposite direction, was really afraid to look at himâŚâŚWang Kai was not a fool, if in retaliation he wanted to exact revenge on me then what should I do?

I shot a glance at the outside, not far from the main gate a tall figure was standing with an umbrella in his hand.

I grinned foolishly. Apparently, Jiang Li still had some conscience.
It's quite an accomplishment, if I say so myself, considering the monstrous problems I had to face in this last one year. But despite all this plight of mine somehow we have reached this landmark. This reasserts my faith in the 3 Ps to Success: Passion, Perseverance & Patience. Passion that I have for this book, Perseverance to do these translations and not yielding to the demon called "give-up" & Patience and love that you kind readers had showered this blog with.
A heartfelt Thank you To ALL!

Hello folks!
This chapter is about "Show Off'. This makes me ask you, have you guys ever seen a real life 'Show Off' couple. Well, I know one such couple, one of my distant relatives. I happened to see their life from close When I was visiting Canada for a seminar a few years back. It was a very short trip to Ontario so I decided to stay at their place on their request.
So this couple who couldn't keep their hands off each other in public was just too indifferent, if not exactly cold, at home. I was a little surprised to see such real life actors. What was surprising was not their acting but their desperateness to prove their so called love in front of others without giving a care to the fact that how tiring it was to constantly show something which simply wasn't there and for what. Well that's my perspective and I am sure many of you may disagree.

BEWARE OF HILARITY!!!

Chapter 27 (1)

âShowing Affectionâ

In the morning I was sitting in front of the mirror, grooming myself when Jiang Li suddenly spoke up: âPull your hair up.â

Sometimes itâs just impossible to understand his words, âAh?â

Jiang Li pulled out a small hair clip from the drawer of my dresser and repeated his words: âPull your hair up.â

Me: âWhy?â

Jiang Li holding that small clip in his hand knocked my head and said: âBecause itâs important. Now, hurry up or you will be late.â

Obeying his words I pulled up my hair.

Then Jiang Li went behind me and with the small clip in his hand fiercely pinched my neck.

âAh, it hurts.â I screamed, covering my neck I turned around and glared at him: âWhat are you doing?â

Jiang Li with an innocent face said: âShowing affection.â

Me: âShowing affection my foot, you are obviously trying to murder me!â

Jiang Li very gravely said: âAfter passionate love making session there are always lingering traces on the body. You have to show this off today.â

I froze for a moment then I gradually realized the meaning of his words and my face immediately burned scarlet redâŚâŚ.all of you know what it stands for, right?

Jiang Li glanced at my face and in a cynical tone said: âI never imagined you as a shy person.â

Oh God!!! this *** man. I was also a woman, ah!!! And that too a virgin oneâŚâŚI never had one of those so called passionate love making session with anyone in my life.

At this time Jiang Li, after extricating my hands, was prepared to attack my neck once again. Actively defending my neck, I immediately covered it back and was not ready to let it go. So he threatened me:
âIf you donât co-operate then I will bite your neck!â

Well, as compared to being bitten by Jiang Li I chose the less dreadful option and anyways I was not going to die from a small hair clip.

So then, in a silent room a womanâs scream echoed for a long timeâŚâŚ..

Once Jiang Liâs abusive job was done I still had some questions for him: âJiang Li, why didnât you pinch my neck from the front?â

Jiang Li: âBecause you cannot see your back, idiot.â

Oh the script was like this: the back of my neck had obvious âtraces of intimacyâ which even I wasnât aware of. Thus like a naĂŻve fool I had pulled up my hair in a bun today and happily went to the officeâŚ.but if that was the case wouldnât it be seen by a lot many people? How shameful it would be?

So I put my queries in front of Jiang Li and he very gently replied: âYeah, donât tell me you realized it just now?â

I was distraught.

But I still wasnât finished: âwhat if I donât meet Yu Zhi Fei today?â

Jiang Li frankly said: âIf so, then we will do it tomorrow also. Sooner or later you will meet him till then we will continue doing it.â

I should just flip the table, what the Hell!!

That morning thanks to Jiang Liâs masterpiece I was almost late for the work. Although I âdid notâ know about the âmarks of intimacyâ on my neck but I really wasnât as good actor as Jiang Li so I stepped inside the building with a guilt-conscious heart and head bowed deeply.

Later in the evening, after work, Jiang Li told me that a deeply bowed head must have made those marks more discernible by increasing their exposure to the public eyes. Hearing his words at that time I sincerely wished to die!!

Right after reaching the office I went straight to Wang Kaiâs office to ask for bossâs latest instructions. Wang Kai, at the moment, was leisurely leaning against the sofa and reading a newspaper while holding a toxic cup of coffee in his hands, pretending to drink it.

As his secretary I responsibly reminded him: âDirector Wang, today there are a lot of things that you need to tend toâŚ..â

Wang Kai looked up at me, smiled and said: ânot a problem, this young master is highly proficient.â

Speechless, I was just speechless and not due to his narcissism but because he was truly very proficient. Ah, I was so so jealous of himâŚâŚâŚ

A meeting was scheduled in the noon that was to be chaired by Wang Kai. Yu Zhi Fei was also going to attend it. Naturally, as a secretary of a certain someone I was also dragged into the meeting room.

Although Wang Kai was a shameless guy but whenever he was in a meeting, he never spewed any nonsense. Only in these meetings he would display a rare humbleness thus becoming a completely different person from his usual self. If I hadnât known him for a really long time then I would have thought that either he was possessed by a ghost or he had a split personality.

At the meeting I was sitting in the position of Wang Kaiâs secretary and coincidentally my seat was right next to Yu Zhi Feiâs seatâŚ..hence I did not even have the courage to look up.

I couldnât be any less interested in the contents of the meeting furthermore my heart was in a mess so
I was sitting on the chair, like a cow, blankly staring at the laptop screen. In my mind I was thinking whether or not Yu Zhi Fei would notice these âtraces of intimacyâ? If he saw what would be his reaction? If he had seen it then should I feel good about it or not? If he hadnât âŚ.no, even if he didnât see them I would still go back and report to Jiang Li that Yu Zhi Fei had seen them, otherwise I wasnât sure for how long my poor neck would have to suffer such atrocities by the hands of that butcher, Jiang Li!!! Besides, was it that important for Yu Zhi Fei to notice these marks? Important enough to risk my neck for it?

The answer was NO!!

God!

I was still in a trance when suddenly someone shook my arm. A very familiar voice resounded: âXiao Guan Yan, idiot, for how long are you going to stay here?â
JIANG LI BULLIED ME (2)

Carrying a bag of some sort he was walking towards the main entrance from the other side, just like me. When I saw him, Embarrassed, I laughed a bit and greeted him: âUh, What a coincidenceâŚ..â

Without waiting for Jiang Liâs reply Wang Kai quickly stepped out of his car. He walked up to me, handed me a paper bag, smiled and said: âYour clothes.â

I took it and forced a smile at him: âAh, Thank you for today.â After all I was still a salaried employee at his office.

âNo, today your services made me really happy.â said Wang Kai pointing a tooth bearing smirk at me.

Dark lines appeared on my forehead. I stood still in my place, did not know what to do.

At this point Jiang Li blankly looked at me and Wang Kai from top to bottom then bottom to top, to
and fro, and then looked again. Finally he threw out some words but still with the same deadpan expressions: âCome on, I am cooking tonight.â

I was immediately scared to death by his sentence. I remained glued to my spot, not willing to move at all.

Wrinkling his eyebrows Jiang Li dragged me upstairs.

I was quite sure that Wang Kai would find this bizarre, Jiang Li was ready to cook the dinner and I was still not happy, why?

He would not understand, would never understand. Since he had never experienced it, so he would never understandâŚ..practice is the only criterion of inspecting the truth, this old saying was absolutely correct.

Jiang Li dragged me in the living room, threw his bag on the coffee table and then threw me on the couch. I crouched on the couch, laughed nervously a little, wanted to explain everything to him but did not know from where I should start.

Frowning, Jiang Li with a little sharpness asked: âCouple outfit? Even you shoes are matching?â

I shuddered: âOh thatâŚ.hahahaâŚ.â

Jiang Li leaned over the couch and faintly said: âI donât mind if you hook up with anyone but why is it him?â as he spoke this he rubbed his shoulders slightly.

Well, I really empathized with Jiang Liâs emotions this time, after all how could he have a good impression of someone who had repeatedly called him âX incompetentâ?

Now it was time to show my loyalty. So I went over to Jiang Liâs side like a dogleg,* massaged his shoulders and explained: âThis whole matter is quite complicated, I cannot exactly tell you all of it in a short span of time. In nutshell, I donât have any relationship with Wang Kai.â Except for the relationship between an employee and an employer.

*original word is çč żĺgÇu tuÇ zi which means dog-leg but the implied meaning is âa servile followerâ and functional translation is henchman or lackey.

Raising his eyebrows Jiang Li asked: âThen do you care to explain why you left your office without uttering a single word to me? After leaving the office also you had plenty of time to call me but you didnât? Even if you could not call at least you could have picked up your phone when I rang you.â

Feeling dreadful, I reluctantly said: âMy mobile phone is missing.â

Jiang Li was stunned and did not speak anything for a minuteâŚ.I thought he would definitely laugh and call me stupid.

Then Jiang Li started enjoying my massage peacefully. After a moment he suddenly said: âToday your services made me very happy.â

Oh God!! How could he follow the lead of a person like Wang Kai, who had nothing but bad things to teach?

Gaining Jiang Liâs approval I felt a little relieved and then carefully asked: âSo can I go and cook dinner for us now?â

Jiang Li closed his eyes and waved his hand to send me away.

I quickly gathered the bags lying on the coffee table and rushed towards the kitchen as if I was running for my life.

I realized that my life was truly pathetic. As even when Jiang Li wanted to cook, first I had to coax him out of it nicely and then ask for his permission to cook dinner for himâŚ.

âŚâŚ.

At night, burning with excitement I happily reported the dayâs events to Jiang Li, rendering special focus on how cool and poised I was while facing Yu Zhi Fei. Naturally I wanted to ask Jiang Li, my military adviser
, for the next step.

Jiang Li, who was sitting in front of his laptop, was looking at something on the screen. After listening to my report he beckoned me forward. So I walked towards his laptop.

I stared at the opened webpage on the screen for a moment, said: âThis site looks a bit familiar to me. Ah, I have seen it somewhere.â

Surprised, Jiang Li glanced at me: âThis is your blog.â

Me: âOh, my blogâŚ.wait a minute, how do you know this is my blog?â

Jiang Li in a very casual and indifferent tone said: âSome of the stuff in your blog is truly at elementary school studentâs level.â

Hey!!!

He added: âOver the recent months the total number of page-views of your blog is five, four out of which are from the same IP address.â

I blinked in confusion: âThen what?â

Jiang Li: âThen I followed it, found the IP user and turned out it was Yu Zhi Fei.â

I said nothing, Jiang Li stared at me for some time and then asked: âYour Exâs name is Yu Zhi Fei or not?â

I wiped off my sweat. Jiang Li truly wasnât ashamed of his cannibalistic* nature.

*his ability to eat other people virtually.

But I still had some questions: âJiang Li, ultimately what is it that you want to do?â

Jiang Li opened his delicate and thin lips slightly and spew out the words: âShow affection.â

I shuddered a bit and had barely reacted when he opened up the log-in page of my blog. Shocked, I shook him immediately: âYouâŚ..you will not be able to log in to my blog?â

Jiang Li looked at me as if he was looking at a fool and very calmly said: âIf I have to hack in to the account of a master then it could be a tad difficult but hacking the account of an idiot is as easy as turning my hand.â

Obviously, the âidiotâ he talked about was me or I was at least one of those âidiotsâ. So I went crazy with anger, grabbed the collar of his shirt and bitterly spoke: âI beg of you, please a paltry thing like hacking wonât do you any good. Donât you think that you should renew your already expired morals!!â

Jiang Li slowly removed my fingers from his collar, the corner of his mouth curled up: âI also have only best intentions for you at my heart. If you will manage your own blog then in the end it will be difficult to show Yu Zhi Fei how much in love we are with each other.â

I angrily yelled: âBut we are not in love!!â

Jiang Li nonchalantly replied: âThatâs not important. Whatâs important is that you want to hold your head high in front of your former beau so faking a few things is alright.â

I patted his head, seemingly there was still a bit of morality left in him. Thus I compromised and said: âWell, you are right. But I still need some time to prepare myself so please donât march ahead and
create trouble right now.â Even though he was ready I still wanted to prepare myself mentally for this upcoming ordeal.

âToo late.â Jiang Li said as he showered a bundle of his crazy smiles at me âIâve already changed the password of your blog.â

Me:âŚâŚâŚ

Hence for a long time after this I became a guest visitor of my own blog. Dear God, I felt that my life was indeed full of infinite ironies and my future was full of darkness.

âŚâŚâŚ

Before going to sleep I was mourning for my mobile phone while lying on the bed when I suddenly recalled Wang Kaiâs allegation from the morning that I hung up his call yesterday. Thus righteously, I asked the rhetoric question to Jiang Li: âJiang Li last night Wang Kai called me, why did you hang it up?â

Jiang Li replied: âYou were taking shower at that time and that guy is really obnoxious.â

It seemed that Wang Kaiâs favorite phrase âX incompetent husbandâ had really hit Jiang Liâs heart hard.

But I still felt that it was wrong: âThen why didnât you tell me after I finished bathing?â

Jiang Li, standing upright as a tree, in a virtuous manner said: âI forgot.â

Me: âWell, what if he had some urgent matter to discuss?â

Disdainfully, Jiang Li said: âHe is just a friend, what urgent matter he would have?â Jiang Li had always thought that Wang Kai and I were only online friends; in the past few days when he came to pick me up from the office he never met Wang Kai. I wanted to tell him that Wang Kai was my immediate boss but then thought that if after all this I would tell him that Wang Kai and I had no relationship then he would certainly laugh his head off.

Seeing how I had no reaction Jiang Li asked: âBoth of you are only friends and nothing else, right? I think you are quite an alright girl and that guy really has no good points.â

I thought it was time to show off my charms so I blinked my sparkling eyes playfully and started bragging: âI truly canât help it. He always follows me around and keeps me telling me strange things like why there are so many handsome and straight guys buzzing around me constantly like small flies. Ah, he really annoys the hell out of me!!â

Jiang Li in an unhurried voice said: âItâs probably because you look like cow dung, thatâs why.â

MeâŚâŚâŚâŚ

I turned around, putting my back towards his face. Did not utter a word, my throat was choked, frozen!!! Just wanted to sleep.

At this time Jiang Li added: âAnyways you should still remain alert all the time.â

I snappily remarked: âThere is no need to worry about your free laborer.â

Jiang Li: âif you get sold then I wonât come to redeem you.â

Jiang Li: âOf course a lump of cow dung is not worth of much money.â
Dear Readers,

I have been receiving a few complaints about the mobile template of my blog. That's why I have enabled the desktop version for the mobile devices. Also I don't know whether or not you guys have noticed a few changes that I have made to this blog but in order to aid you in navigating through previous chapters I have added a search toolbar on the right side of this blog. Plus there is Blog Archive on the top of the main page which can be used to look in to the past posts. I hope this will let you enjoy the book without too much tussle.

Meanwhile I have been reading and cherishing all your comments. Please keep sharing your thoughts and support my work.
Chapter 26.1

Jiang Li bullied me

Everybody has their own way of enjoyment. In any amusement park there are always two types of people. One who will enjoy the rides in a very systematic pattern and style and the other who happily enjoy the rides without any reservation.

Wang Kai obviously belonged to the second category. I felt strange to see a big man, say twenty eight years old, playing in the park like an elementary school student. If I did not know better I would think he was a retard. Furthermore, he was the same guy who strongly opposed the idea of going to the amusement park earlier and now seeing him in this condition like there was no other place as fun and interesting as this amusement park in this world, Good Heavens!

Because of my overzealous boss, we had been playing in the park until it could almost be considered as parkâs closing time.

Jumping down from the Ferris wheel Wang Kai laughed and asked: âXiao Yan, what should we eat?â

On Wang Kaiâs reminder, I slapped my forehead, suddenly remembered: âOh, I have to go back and cook for Jiang LiâŚwhat time is it?â I said as he fished out his phone from his pocket.

Wang Kai disdainfully said: âFive fortyâŚ..Itâs not time for dinner yet. Why donât you call him and tell him that you will be a little late today.â

I nodded my head, was going to call Jiang Li but realized that my mobile phone was missingâŚ.I remembered putting it in the pocket of my trouser.

Seeing how I was not listening to him and fumbling with my pockets, Wang Kai asked: âWhy, what happened?â

Distressed, I replied: âI think I have lost my phone.â

The key issue was that I did not even remember Jiang Liâs phone numberâŚ..

Wang Kai patted my shoulder and in a very encouraging tone said: âLost is lost. Today you came out to take a break from the routine and enjoy yourself a bit. I am sure no one will fight with their spouse over a mere dinner.â

I thought these words did not fit on Jiang Li. Last time also Jiang Li and I almost got separated because of one meal. Although he had promised me that he would not bring up the topic of âseparationâ so casually but the premise was that I would also not miss preparing dinner for him so casually.

Wang Kai looked at the awkward expressions on my face and ruefully said: âOkay, okay, I will send you back.â

I silently nodded, this was it. The other name of Jiang Li was Psycho and I was already very scared of his reaction.

Wang Kai in all his earnestness told me: âXiao Guan Yan, you really have no position in your home.â

I cried in my heart, even you could see that!!!!!

Wang Kai chuckled softly: âWhy donât you apply for a sabbatical and then go somewhere nice with me?â

I rolled my eyes. Wang Kaiâs rhetoric trifling was something I was already accustomed of.

âŚâŚâŚ.

The amusement park was quite far off from my home, about an hourâs drive, that was if there were a fewer to none traffic congestion. Therefore it took us nearly two hours to reach home after driving through heavy traffic jams. Ultimately I arrived at the main door.

I jumped out of the car, waving my hand a little at Wang Kai I was about to rush upstairs. But at this point of time I saw Jiang Li.

Carrying a bag of some sort, he was walking towards the main entrance from the other side, just like me. He looked at me. Embarrassed, I laughed a bit and greeted him: âUh, What a coincidenceâŚ..â

SPEECHLESS, JUST SPEECHLESS

At this time, leaning back on his chair Wang Kai was angrily whining: âDog bites Lu Dongbin*, treating the kind intention of otherâs as a donkeyâs labor. In this world there are a bunch of people like that, they are selfish, they are unconscionable, they are cruel, their attitude towards their seniors is as frosty as wintersâŚâŚ.â

I shuddered twice and interrupted him: âSorry, yesterdayâŚyesterday my mood was really bad. Please forget about it.â

With an apparent reluctance Wang Kai listened to my explanation and then said: âGive me a shoulder massage and I will forgive you.â

I did not buy it: âDirector Wang, for the sake of a hard-working and diligent secretary like me can we please get down to the business? At Tenâ o clock in the morning you have a meeting and then in the afternoonâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ..â

Wang Kai waved his hand feebly and said: âCan you not talk about business today?â

I saw the âabout to dieâ look on his face, my heart immediately softened. After all dying on the work desk wasnât really a good thing, so I ask
ed: âThen what should we talk about?â

Wang Kai thought for a moment before saying: âOrâŚ..we can go out to play?â

Ah! I was distracted, âGo out to play?â This guy really had some nerves to devise such a plan! But looking at his eyes filled with expectations, I could not bring myself to become so ruthless. Anyways, considering his current state we were in no position to work so it was better to go out and play.

Moreover if boss was taking the initiative to become a truant then I did not need to worry about being caught. Thinking all this, I nodded. Escaping the work at bossâs expense, why not!!!

Wang Kai saw my affirmation and suddenly âjumped offâ his chair while pumping his fist. His agile action of âjumping offâ the chair could put even nimble rabbits to shame. Then he came around his desk, pulling my wrist started dragging me out and asked: âWhere should we go out to play? Swimming? Bowling? Do you know how to play golfâŚâ

I was shocked to see his refreshed spirit with no trace of weakness. Was the miserable look that he was donning earlier a sham?

That meant this whole time he was leading me by the nose!!

âŚâŚâŚâŚ

Wang Kai and I were having a severe dispute over the âwhere to goâ issue. With both parties unrelenting, negotiation was in peril. Due to my indomitable perseverance ultimately Wang Kai decided to compromise and go to amusement park.

Still unconvinced with the outcome of our discussion, he further added: âXiao Guan Yan, your personality is so unlikable.â

Soon after he smiled and told me: âI have heard that in the TV dramas boyfriend and girlfriend usually go to amusement park on dates.â

Before going to amusement park, Wang Kai and I decided to go to a mall first to buy some casual clothes because going to an amusement park clad in office attire would most probably scare other people.

Naturally, the money to buy these casual clothes would come out of Wang Kaiâs wallet since he was the initiator of this entire ordeal.

Following the principle of seniority I accompanied Wang Kai to buy a set of T-shirt, jeans and sneakers. I completed his look by putting a cap on his head. Not only did he look handsome but also somewhatâŚ.roguish. Perhaps it was because I knew him too well or perhaps it was because he was a mixed blood, in short, I thought he was one wretched soul blessed with an extremely handsome outer appearance.

Wang Kai dragged me to one of those exclusive high-end stores, pointed towards the casual clothes on a female mannequin placed right in the center of the store and asked me to try it. The reason for specifying a âfemaleâ mannequin was that there was also a male mannequin standing right next to it displaying corresponding casual clothing for men. This couple outfit had all the things matching including the caps, t-shirts, jeans, shoes and even the socks.

The outfit for women was indeed appealing. While carrying those clothes and walking towards the trial room, I marveled at Wang Kaiâs good taste. In fact other than his nature everything about him was outstanding.

After coming out of the dressing room I looked at myself in the mirror. I suddenly felt like a young teenager and it made me really happy.

I scrutinized my image in the mirror conceitedly for a minute. Then, I turned around to see Wang Kai, only to find that he was missing. Oh God, did this guy purposefully escape from the scene in order to avoid paying for my clothesâŚâŚ.?

I was still lost in my thoughts when he suddenly emerged from the fitting room but donning a different set of clothes. At this time he was wearing what I was wearingâŚ..but a male version.

I glared at him unhappily: âAre you kidding?â

Wang Kai stood in front of the mirror and kept swinging left and right: âI thought these clothes look really good so immediately went ahead and tried themâŚ.See, donât they look better than the previous one?â

Discouraged, I said: âFine, I will go and find another set.â

Wang Kai smiled and said: âI have already paid the bill for these clothes if you want another set then pay the bill from your own pocket.â

MeâŚâŚ.

Simple, straight but too cruel!!!!

Heaven, Ah!! I have eventually lost all hopes for this world! All the good men in this world were dead or whatâŚâŚ

Considering how stick to trifles I was when money was in the view, I decided to concede this time. They were just similar pair of clothes, who cared!!!

In my eyes Wang Kai was the kind of person who liked to joke around. So for his small trick I neither felt too embarrassed nor too uncomfortable. Nonetheless I did not like it much. Naturally I did not

think that he had started admiring me or anything. Bluntly speaking, I knew very well how light hearted he was when it came to the department of emotions. Moreover during our encounter at Maldives, his âfigured outâ theory had completely let my heart at ease. Of course the most important point was that Wang Kai only played around with women and had never loved anyone. I could bet that even when this world would come to an end then also no woman would be able to tempt him.

Of course if any man would be able to tempt him or notâŚâŚwas beyond my area of research.

At this moment we were in the amusement park and Wang Kai was running towards me with a huge grin plastered over his face. His spirit was so high that it looked like that nothing in this world could dampen his mood. This made me wonder whether the gloomy face that I saw in the morning was my disillusionâŚ

WARM GREETINGS 2 EVERYONE

Chapter 25.1

Speechless, just speechless (1)

The moment I stepped inside the Building I heard someone calling my name from behind. Looking
back, I saw Li Min. I stood still, waiting for her but behind her, suddenly appeared the figure of a guy that I did not want to see.

Following Jiang Liâs advice, I held my ground. Sweeping an indifferent glance at Yu Zhi Fei, I waved Li Min closer and walked shoulder by shoulder with her towards the elevator.

Li Min neither realized that there was someone behind her nor detected my unusual behavior because all her attention was focused on fishing out the latest pieces of gossips.

After catching up with me, Li Min chuckled darkly: âSecretary Guan, Just now did your boyfriend drop you to the office?â

I smiled and said: âNo it was my husband.â

Li Min blinked her big eyes and with an unmasked envy on her face she said: âYour husbandâs car is very beautiful.â

I politely smiled: âProbably so.â

Honestly, I had not inspected his car closely, all I knew that it was a white BMW. Since it was quite a snobby car thus I concluded that Jiang Li was also a snob.

Li Min laughed: âYour husband drops you to your office in his car daily. He is really very good to you.â

Was this a joke, good to me? If she knew what he had done to me, without any delay she would swallow back her words!!

Of course considering the complicity of the situation, a pair of eyes trailing behind us, I did not dare to backbite Jiang Li. Although refuting Li Minâs words could not be called a slander but Jiang Li had a sick personality. If he were to know about me âslanderingâ him then I couldnât even imagine how he would bully me.

So I calmly said with a plastic smile: âItâs his duty.â Bragging, in fact, was my forte.

At this point, Li Min looked at me with a little reverence in her eyesâŚâŚ.

The three of us walked in to the same the elevator. In the elevator, holding my head high, I looked straight ahead and did not glance at Yu Zhi Fei, not even once. I calmly listened to Li Minâs chatter and laughter. As per Jiang Liâs words, one must not resign herself but make others resign thus should overwhelm the enemy using the imposing attitude.

I realized that although Jiang Li was a psycho and had an implausible IQ but he still had become guru, my counselor, my adviser.

As we stepped out of the elevator I felt relieved. After all today I did not lose any face. Since my break up with Yu Zhi Fei four years ago, this had happened for the first time.

âŚâŚâŚ.

Today my boss looked extremely tired and haggard. Perhaps he had a little too many drinks last night!

When Wang Kai saw me, he cheered up a bit, greeted me and then asked: âAre you alright?â

I gave him a puzzled look: âI wasnât feeling unwell, was I?â

Wang Kai shook his head and with an anguished face spoke: âXiao Guan Yan, I really appreciate your EQ! Yesterday you were completely lost and unfocused as if the end of the world is imminent. I thought something serious has happened and was not expecting you in the office today. Not only you came today but you are in an incredibly happy mood where as I spent the entire night worrying over you, scarcely sleeping a wink!â

I thought he was lying, so I bravely exposed him: âYou must have spent the last night in the company of a great beauty, how could you get any free time to think about me? Are you trying to fool me?â

Wang Kai muttered something under his breath and then in a voice laced with disappointment said: âWhat I said was truth. Last night I tried calling you too but you hung up the phone.â

Me: âYou are getting more and more off the mark. You called me then how come I did not know about it?â

Wang Kai: âHow can you, Xiao Guan Yan, be so unconscionable?â

Seeing his annoyed expressions I was feeling confused: âOkay, okay, I want to work. Whatever problem you have with me, we can discuss it later after office hours.â

Apparently, Wang Kai had no intention to disengage from this conflict. He took out his cell phone and forcibly showed me his call logs. I did not want to see but using his superior authority he ordered me to look at it. If not, he threatened to deduct my salary. Oh God, why and how did I manage to get bullied through so many different ways in one lifetime?

I glanced at Wang Kaiâs phone records and found out that he had really called me at Nineâ o clock last night. It was really strange. I pulled out my mobile phone to cross check, Oh hell, my call history also had the same record. Wang Kai did call me last nightâŚâŚ.how was it possible that I did not remember it?

According to the phone logs the call was made at exact ten past nine, ten past nineâŚâŚ.at that time I was in the shower.

Well since the battery of my phone had not died last night and the phone could not get hanged up on its own then it must be Jiang Li who did it. But why did he suddenly hang up my phone for nothing, what was he scheming?

Jiang Li at his best....

Chapter 24.2

Friendly Jiang Li (2)

Jiang Li pressed harder and harder: âXiao Guan Yan, you must admit that you really are good for nothing. After being cheated by the other person, you can only dare to hide yourself. Desperately wanted to forget him and even when you couldnât forget him you could only pretend that you have. Just seeing the face of the person who hurt you badly you immediately, immediately wanted to run way. Evading him and evading the situation as much as possible. In fact your case is a true example of âonce bitten, twice shy.â Now you are even scared of a rope, not to mention the amount of fear a snake can instill in your heart.â

Bleakly, I raised my head: âYou are saying all this so confidently as if itâs a fact.â

After stretching his body for a minute, very swiftly he said: âAlthough your behavior is understandable but itâs still despicable. What I fail to comprehend is why canât you directly catch the snake first? Why donât you get rid of it instead of letting it to hunt you? Snakes have vicious nature, the more you try to flee away from them, the more they will try to chase you until you canât hide further. If so, then why donât you dispose them off first?â

Listening to this I felt a little discouraged: âI admit that what you are saying is not redundant, but if I could kick him away that easily why would I need to hide from him?â

Stroking his chin Jiang Li thought for a moment then nodded his head, said: âThatâs right, that Ex of yours does not look like a simple man. Considering your intelligence, you are indeed no opponent for him.â

Hey!!!!

Abruptly Jiang Li patted my shoulder and said: âDonât worry. I will help you.â

Unconvinced, I rolled my eyes: âWhy are you being this kind?â

âI am certainly not being kind.â Jiang Li shook his head while the corners of his mouth lifted up âAs I have some conditions.â

I did not find his words unexpected: âWell, go on.â

Jiang Li: âYou will have to help me in washing my clothes.â

I clenched my teeth and nodded.

Jiang Li: âAnd when I return back from socializing you have to prepare supper and soup for me.â

Re-clenching my teeth I nodded my head in acquiesce.

âAnd..â

I was not able to restrain my anger this time, I snapped: âArenât you done with your conditions yet?â

âGo to bed early. Women who stay up late at night are appalling.â

âŚâŚâŚ

Jiang Li: âIf you want to hold your head up in front of your ex then as long as you do this one thing it would suffice. You must make him believe that you have forgotten him already and that you are doing really well now.â

Me: âI truly have forgotten him already.â

Jiang Li: âI mean that now in your eyes he should be like any other passerby. When you see him, raise your head high as if you are looking at a stray cat.â

A stray catâŚâŚit was somewhat hard to imagineâŚ..

Jiang Li: âlook at him as if you are seeing a reprehensible stranger. You can imagine that he has all those traits that you loath like he is a freak, sneaky, hasnât taken bath for a month, is a molester*âŚâŚâ

*originally the word used by the author was pedoâŚ. But I found it too strong so I took the liberty to change it to molester.

I wiped seat from my forehead: âIs it alright to think like that..?â

Jiang Li: âDo not, at any cost, be polite with him otherwise he would think that you still remember him and havenât forgotten him completely. Whether he likes it or not, you just finish it off neatly so that there is no nuisance later.â

I looked at his countenance, full of confidence. I suddenly felt that he truly did not find the words he spoke just now much.

Jiang Li was steering the conversation. Without observing my expressions, he was still being the same. Unhesitatingly he continued: âBeyond that, you have to show him that you have a very good relationship with me. Make him open his eyes and see that there are people who really want and cherish the Xiao Guan Yan whom he had so cruelly rejected.â

MeâŚâŚ

Jiang Li, if once you donât diss me then you wonât die!!!!!

Jiang Li: âWhen he will realize that you are happier than he had imagined, even happier than him then he may not like it. And itâs a possibility that he will try to find some opportunities to seduce you. At that time you have to refrain. This guyâs only plus point is his handsome face though I donât find it too appealing. So if you want to see a good looking face then come and find me. If you want to see someone with a pleasant personality then come and find meâŚâŚAnd of course if you want to see someone with money then also come and find me.â

MyâŚâŚsweat was pouring down in torrent.

Perhaps feeling that something was not right Jiang Li added: âOf course I wonât force you to do all this.â

In order to avoid getting a nervous breakdown, I simply shut my eyes close and mounted myself on a seat. Playing deaf and mute.

I noticed that lately Jiang Li was becoming very talkative but I was not sure about what was stimulating it.

At this time I was sitting with Jiang Li in his car. Jiang Li dropping me off to my office in the morning, originally there was no such plan but I presumed that after seeing how dedicatedly I washed and cleaned his clothes, he decided to give me a ride. On the way I thought I really did not care about his reason after all who did not like a free ride? While I was still busy thinking Jiang Li drove me to the main entrance of the building. It was already eight fifty-five, was he not afraid of being tardy?

So I benevolently asked him: âArenât you getting late?â

Jiang Li indifferently answered: âWhen I am not worried then why are you worried about it.â

What nonsense!!!

Just when I thought that Jiang Li was getting a little friendlier, his one sentence thoroughly extinguished my idea.

Friendly, what a joke. He was a freak, sneaky, smelly personâŚâŚ.a molester. @#$%@
Chapter 24.1

Friendly Jiang Li (1)

After dinner Jiang Li called me, afraid that I might have cold he started forcing me to drink a cup of some concotation.

I gave the amber liquid in the cup a skeptical look and asked him: âWhat is this for?â

Jiang Li very bluntly spoke: âYou have cold, right. I donât want you to pass it to me so take this medicine.â

OK, so I did not know what to say nowâŚ..

At night before going to sleep, I mustered some courage and then I gathered some more courage and finally went to Jiang Li: âJiang Li if I ask you a question then can you answer it honestly.â

Jiang Li generously nodded his head: âSince you are going to inconvenience me with your query thus in order to not let you feel burdened about the same, I will also ask you a question and you should also answer it honestly.â

I nodded and asked: âDid you deliberately make the dinner inedible?â

Jiang Li very seriously replied: âYes, truthfully I can cook really delicious food. If you donât believe it then tomorrow I will cook again and you can test it yourself.â

I was petrified and hurriedly shook my head like a pellet drum. It was really hard to tell whether Jiang Liâs words were fake or not.

Pretending to regret, Jiang Li spoke: âWhat a pityâŚ.â Then, he changed the subject: âWell, now itâs my turn to ask you a question.â

âGo ahead.â I did not have anything to hide, he could ask anything.

Jiang Li squinted his eyes slightly and asked: âWhy did you cry today?â

I did not expect that he would ask that, remembering the gloomy incident of the day I exclaimed: âWhy does it matter to you?â

âI donât want to see that kind of resentful expressions on your face every day and if this continues I donât know for how long I will have to cook dinnerâŚ..itâs hard to beat the eggs.â

I pondered for a moment and then said: âJiang Li, if one day you find out that your ex-lover has also started working in your company, will you resign or not?â

Jiang Li firmly shook his head: âI will resign...â

I tilted my head in disbelief: âYou will resign so easily.â

Jiang Li added: âI will resign myself to make him quit.â

MeâŚâŚ..

I will resign myself to make him quit. âŚ.This was Jiang Liâs reply.

I suddenly felt that there was no point in discussing this problem with Jiang Li, the two of us basically did not belong to the same world.

Jiang Li quickly realized the problem: âencountered your ex-lover?â

I nodded: âHe is the new VP of the Marketing Department in our company and I am the secretary of a VP.â Therefore no matter how hard I tried, we were bound to meet frequently. I had only two options either to face the situation or resign from the job.

Holding his chin Jiang Li thought for a while and then suddenly spoke up: âXiao Guan Yan, I have discovered that your greatest characteristic is not that youâre stupid but that youâre actually good for nothing.â

His words were indeed âgood for nothingâ but I was already accustomed to his cynicism. It seemed that although he said such provocative things but he really was not in the mood for bickering.

He smiled but perhaps found my reaction a bit too dull. So dissatisfied, he said: âYou still donât believe me. Itâs obvious that from the beginning itâs your ex who was in the wrong and yet you are trying to make yourself invisible like you owe him something.â

His words hit my heart directly. Did it really look like thatâŚâŚ

Seeing how I was not retorting back, Jiang Li proposed another hypothesis: âOr could it be that you are still obsessed with him?â

Uh? I was stunned. Was I? No wayâŚI wasnâtâŚ.certainly notâŚ.I shouldnât be.

I shook my head decisively and in a quite serious tone said: âI can assure that I donât like him anymore.â

Jiang Li asked: âBut when you saw him, you reacted just like the girlfriend who recently broke up with her boyfriend. Then are you afraid of him?â

Was I afraid of him? I was wary of what he might do; but it wasnât like he was a ghost or anything. Thus I moved my head in denial, not afraid of him.

Then Jiang Li said: âYou are afraid of him. On our wedding day only I realized this that you are afraid of him.â

I bowed my head a bit and my heart began to tremble in trepidation. Was I scared of Yu Zhi Fei? But why should I fear him?

Jiang Li was an expert in the art of mind reading and very quickly he answered the doubts in my heart: âIn fact you are not afraid of him, you dread to face the past where both of you were still together.â

Uh?

Jiang Li pressed harder and harder: âXiao Guan Yan, you must admit that you really are good for nothing. After being cheated by the other person, you can only dare to hide yourself. Desperately wanted to forget him and even when you couldnât forget him you could only pretend that you have. Bleakly, I raised my head: âYou are talking so confidently as if all this is a fact.â
Hello Peeps, Currently I am on an ad-hock small vacation in order to celebrate my upcoming birthday (28th Jan) It was a surprise arranged by my husband thus I did not get time to arrange this post on time. After working on the available rough draft for 3 days I am finally ready to post this one. I will be back by 30th. Apologies for the delay.

On another note a big thank you to all those wonderful readers who gave me their honest opinion but the truth is by the time your comments rolled in I had already surrendered my weapons. Yes, i ended the cold war on the next morning itself and it was not because i felt i was wrong, in fact i sincerely believed that both me and him (my hubby) were right, but it was because if i had to keep my thoughts in for one more day then my head would have blasted. Fortunately or unfortunately I live for talking.

Well I am off to celebrate my 'Happy 16th Birthday'. (This girl never feels older than that) Ciao.....

CHAPTER 23.2

Jiang Liâs cooking (2)

Jiang Li hurriedly put the lid on the pot without panicking at all. He turned to find me cowering in the corner and proudly said: âI had mastered this move in the kindergarten only.â

Me: âŚâŚâŚ.

I had nothing to say; obviously he was the person who did not know how to cook so in the end why was he ridiculing me?

Feeling extremely accomplished Jiang Li put all the vegetables that he had just fried into âŚ..a basin. Thatâs correct, a basin, you read it right, I did not write it wrong because those fried vegetables could not fit in the dish bowl.

After finishing this task, Jiang Li still had more to say: âDo you have anything else to cook?â

âUmmm, then how about steamed egg custard?â I suggested this dish because the rate of error while preparing steamed egg custard is relatively low. Of course, there was another reason- other than eggs, we had no other raw ingredientsâŚâŚ

Acquiescing with my opinion, Jiang Li nodded his head. Then steamed egg custard it was.

I kindly probed: âJiang Li, you donât know how to cook it, do you?â

âOf course, I know how to cook it.â Jiang Li looked at the eggs in his hands and then quietly murmured to himself âBut what do I have to steam first egg or rice?â

âYou can steam both of them together.â Steam together, we all understand what that means, right?

Jiang Li gave me a weird look and in a questioning tone asked: "Can we steam them together?â

âNonsense, of course we can!â so Jiang Li finished washing rice, put them in the rice cooker, pour the water, plugged the cooker in and started cooking.

He cracked opened a few eggs into a bowl. Then he grabbed a spoon to pick up the egg shell pieces that fell into the bowl (sweating), stirred them nicely for a few minutes (which I instructed him), added sesame oil and salt (which again I instructed him) then he took a very valiant action, an action so fierce that for a moment I could not even react.

Holding the freshly beaten eggs bowl in one hand, he removed the rice cooker lid, quickly ârattledâ the rice and then very neatly poured the eggs into the still uncooked rice.

Disoriented, I stood in my place. I looked at the boiling water gushing out of the cooker, the uncooked eggs and raw rice rolling together and laughed at the madness of this world.

It was all over, finishedâŚâŚ

Jiang Li very proudly grasped a pair of chopsticks to stir the things in the cooker then turned his head to look towards me. He noticed that my reaction was abnormal. Therefore he put forward a question very carefully: âSo howâs it? Is there anything wrong?â

Was he joking? Was there anything wrong? Jiang Li pondered for a moment, innocently said: âThere is nothing wrong, I did as you said, wash the rice, beat the eggs, and steam them togetherâŚ.â

Steam them together, did he take it literally as in âsteaming them togetherâ? I stood in the kitchen corner like a statue and for a long time only one sentence reverberated in my mind: not true, itâs not true.

While Jiang Li finished serving the âsteamed egg custardâ in the dishes and brought it to the dining table I was still standing at my designated spot, the kitchen corner.

âCome and eat, no need to be modest with me or do you want me to feed you with my own hands?â

I desperately resisted: âNo, I donât want to eat.â

Impatiently, Jiang Li pulled me away: âI am treating you so well and you are trying to be picky. Have you ever seen me being picky with the food you serve me?â

Hey, thatâs because the food I serve you had always been normal!

Jiang Li dragged me to the dining table, pushed me on the chair and placed a bowl of rice-egg mix in front of me. I picked up my chopsticks and stabbed it, re-stabbed it but did not eat it.

Jiang Li got irritated; he sat beside me and took the chopsticks from my hand. I thought he was going to throw them away, good, he should just throw them away but I would not eat it.

However, using those chopsticks Jiang Li stirred the rice-egg mix then pressed my neck brought a piece of that rice-egg mix in front of my mouth and in a low-deep voice said: âCome on, eat.â

I always thought men use such low husky voice to seduce women (or men) but I never knew it could also be used to coax people to eat. I hardened my heart and remained firm with my decision ânot eatingâ.

Jiang Li did not give up; he bowed down a bit and whispered in my ears: âIf you donât eat then the consequences will be very serious, got it!â

I laughed: âsuch as?â Paper tiger, I did not believe he could do anything to me.

âFor exampleâ Jiang Li suddenly in a very cold tone whispered: âFor example, your cherry may pop!â

I shuddered to the bone and almost fell down from the chair.

Jiang Li, this guy was too cruel!!

Jiang Li grabbed my shoulder, chuckled to himself and said: âCome on letâs eat, itâs very delicious.â

I shakily opened my mouth and put in a piece of rice-egg mix.

Surprisingly, this thing was not as terrible as I imagined. The egg was nicely cooked and of course the rice tasted as usual. In fact this dish was neither good nor hard to swallow.

âAre you enjoying the food?â I was almost in tears, simply nodded my head. I dared not to speak anything

âŚ

Jiang Li also nodded his head with satisfaction, picked up a piece of carrot and put it in my bowl: âCome, eat some vegetables too.â

I looked at the bizarrely cut piece of carrot- grotesquely black in color and silently cried without tears.

Thanks to Jiang Liâs constant coaxing cum perusal, which in reality was a threat in disguise, I managed to eat a bowl of rice-egg mixture with an added seasoning of soya sauce and salty fried vegetables (also called as fried pickles.) Since I coordinated obediently Jiang Li finally let me go.

Looking satisfied with his achievement he asked: âWas it delicious?â

He had already asked the same question at least two hundred times. I bobbed my head aggressively; it was delicious, tasty and extremely scrumptious!

Jiang Li smiled modestly and said: âitâs delicious, eh, then eat some more of it?â

I despondently shook my head, did not want to eat, could not eatâŚâŚ.Uncle Li please spare this little Xiao YanâŚ..

Jiang Li gently patted my head: âWife, ah, today I found out that my cooking is really not that bad then should I cook the dinner from now on?â

I was too scared, repeatedly shook my head, Uncle Li you mustnât take the exertion. You should rest your body well.

Jiang Li cheekily made things more difficult for me: âeh, you donât want to.â

âI do, I do, I swearâ my eyes were full of sincerity, my face endlessly serious. In my heart I was thinking- Joke or not, no one should abuse others like this.

Jiang Li seemed a little embarrassed, finally smiled earnestly. I sighed in relief. Dear God, my body was getting old and it really could not take such torments any more.

Jiang Li picked up a piece of the rice-egg mix and put it in his mouth. He did not even chew it and spit it out immediately.

Since then my mind had a firm belief:

Jiang Li was not a human, he was a scum!!!
Hello everyone. Ni Hao Ma... Currently I am annoyed and irritated. Pardon my long prelude but do try to read it and give me your genuine advice.

2016 has started with a bang for me. Well, because of a hair color gone wrong, incorrigibly wrong I had to get my waist long tresses snipped. The reason behind the hair color gone bad was very simple: My whimsical personality. Otherwise who told me to experiment with a never-seen-before color; some shade of purple. lighter than an eggplant but darker than the purple lilies. anyways long story short even though i was forced to have this new look, asymmetrical bob hair-cut, i was still happy with it.
But the real bomb exploded when I reached home because what I thought would surprise my husband, actually shocked him. His first reaction was the usual, a long silence followed by 'its good' But who am I, a person who loves to put foot in her mouth. I pestered him to give his honest opinion and BOOM.
I won't quote him word by word but the moral of his 5 minutes lecture (too long for him) was that a) I am reckless b) I am reckless z) I am reckless ..
And all in all I should have consulted him before doing something so outrageous (in his eyes)

SO, my dear readers we are currently going through a cold war. I am not talking since I completely support Women's rights. I mean come on, why does a girl need to seek permission before coloring or cutting her own hair. What does this world has come to. And He is not talking because clearly he knows that I can't sustain a single day without talking, unlike him. hence he is torturing me. Thousands of miles away from family and friends, troublesome time difference, Stuck in a city with language barrier I really have almost no other option than him. Thus he is enjoying this atrocity.

THE FINAL RESULT AT 1 A.M. I AM SITTING IN FRONT OF MY LAPTOP, RAMBLING AND PRATTLING. POURING MY HEART DOWN IN FRONT OF YOU ALL...SHOULD I BREAK THE ICE FIRST?

:(

I was about to open my mouth to say something when unexpectedly the âriverâ of the tears started flowing out and I could not hold it in.

Jiang Li squatted down, looked at my face in disbelief: âAre youâŚâŚcrying?â

Oh crap, he did not see that, did he??

Jiang Li in a conciliatory tone said: âBy the way do you know that you look more attractive while crying than laughing.â

I looked at his face that was in a very close proximity to my face, really wanted to punch his face hard.

Jiang Li got up to sit on the couch, pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and handed it over to me: âHow can a thick-skinned person like you cry, did someone dare to bully you, eh?â

I took his handkerchief and silently wiped my tears. Yes, ah I was crying but who dared to bully me?

NobodyâŚâŚAlso, who said I had thick skin, huhâŚâŚ

Jiang Li leaned against the back of the couch and nonchalantly said: âYou just got fired, right? Itâs alright; there is no need to worry. I can still support you.â

I felt as if he was gloating over my misery, so I snapped: âWho needs your support!!!!â

Jiang Li said: âYou got bullied outside, ran back home and then got angry at me. You just have all the signs of a person who needs support.â

I moved my worn out body, stood up to prepare dinner in order to divert Jiang Liâs attention.

Jiang Li: âWhat are you doing?â

Me: âGoing to prepare dinner.â

Jiang Li suddenly grabbed my wrist and pulled me back to the couch again.

This time I was really very angry: âWhat the hell are you doing?â

Jiang Li in a neither too fast nor too slow tone replied: âI am afraid with your present mind set you will burn up the whole kitchen.â

âJiang Li!! Canât you see I am in a bad mood, so for once can you not bully me and leave me alone?â

âI am not bullying you.â Jiang Li thought for a while, suddenly straightened up
and said: âOkay, I will cook and you observe.â

I thought I had heard wrong.
âŚâŚ.

Because Jiang Liâs cooking was a rare treat so I also cheered up a bit instantly and went to the kitchen together with him.

Jiang Li pointed to a corner in the kitchen and told me: âyou stand here and donât move an inch. Just silently observe from here.â

I sincerely followed his instructions.

Jiang Li took out all the vegetables from refrigerator, threw away the ones
which were no longer fresh and put the remaining one in a big bowl filled with
water. After that he started washing them expertly.

I was a bit puzzled: âYou really look like a professional even though you donât even know how to cook.â

Bowing his head while washing the vegetables, he said: âI only know how to wash vegetables. Earlier at my home I used to wash vegetables, my mother used to do the cooking and my father used to wash dishes.â

What a happy family, ah. I was feeling a tiny bit jealous of him. Jiang Li seemed to have guessed my thoughts so he suddenly raised his head and glanced at me, said: âBut now my father is your father. I donât consider you as an outsider.â

Although his words were nondescript but still my heart was a little moved by his small gesture. Sometimes this man, Jiang Li, really could tell people what they wanted to hear.

After washing the vegetables, Jiang Li put the carrots, spinach and other vegetables in a pile. He placed his left hand at his back and then brandishing a knife in his right hand he started to âcutâ those vegetables.

I was shocked at his action, after a long time I regained my spirit. Then, trembling I said: âJiang Li, you are chopping the vegetables with one handâŚâŚ..â

Jiang Li stopped, embarrassed he said: âI was afraid of cutting my handâŚ..â

It looked like that Jiang Li was truly a good kid who really cherished his life a lot. Watching Jiang Li cooking the dinner was already a rare sight, so even though he did not know how to cut the vegetables properly it was still acceptable for me. And now I also got to see his embarrassed face. I decided to appreciate this golden opportunity more and thus smirked at Jiang Li.

Jiang Li did not get angry, with a blushed face and short breath he continued to âcutâ those poor vegetables.

Looking at the pitiful condition of the variegated vegetables on the chopping board, two horrible words suddenly pooped up in my mind: mutilated bodies.

After cutting for a while, Jiang Li put away the knife, looked at me with great satisfaction and said: âNot bad, right?â

My heart shuddered but out of whatever conscience I had, replied: âNot bad.â

âSo now what should be the next step?â

Staring at the heap of the wrecked vegetables I thought for a moment and finally resolved to answer: âWhy donât you fry it first!â

Jiang Li very swiftly turned on the gas stove, picked up a handful of the vegetables that he had just cut and threw them in a pot, then in a very convincing manner he started moving them with a spatula. His motion was very light and casual.

I could hardly contain myself any more, I quickly stepped forward and said: âNot like this, not like this. You have to wash the pot first, pour some oil in the pot and then add vegetables to it.â

Jiang Li turned off the gas stove. Turned towards me and pointed to the corner I was stationed at: âStand back.â

My enthusiasm level immediately got reduced by half and I meekly went back to that corner. Then I got disenchanted. This house was both his and mine so why should I listen to him?

So I decided to use his own words to rebut him: âJiang Li, I am afraid that you will burn up the kitchen.â

Jiang Li simply replied: âDonât worry about it, we have you for that.â

What kind of answer was that!!!

âJiang Li, take another pan and add the oil first.â

âWhoaaa, donât pour too much oil.â

âYou are really silly, eh. Wait for a minute and then add vegetables.â

âOkay, okay. Now add soya sauce and vinegar to itâŚ..â
I got home, wearingly leaned on the couch. At this time I felt as if the entire energy of my body had been siphoned off.

Why did I encounter him again, the world is so vast then why did we still end up meeting? I did not want to see him ever again in my life then why did fate force us to come face to face once more? I obviously had forgotten him then how come, when I saw him in the office today, my mind drew a complete blank?

Why did he call me âYan Yan.â Exactly what right did he have?

I felt a little cold; autumn had come thatâs why the weather had turned chilly. I looked on the floor, on the autumn sunshine spread over the living room carpet. I could vaguely remember, under the beautiful autumn sunshine he was standing, tall and erect. Smiling, he called: âYan Yan.â

But now, what right did he have?

All of a sudden I felt extremely lethargic, perhaps. Whether I was feeling too tired or just too sleepy, I was not sure.

I simply lay down on the couch and soon fell into a deep slumber.

âŚâŚâŚ......

......âŚDrowsily, I heard someone opened the door and then shut it, followed by the sound of footsteps coming closer. At this point of time, I had already woken up but I did not open my eyes. I did not want to get up from the couch.

Jiang Li approached me and whispered: âThis fool.â

I ignored him and continued to snooze on the couch. Ah, good dreams. In the dreams I would not have to face the messy reality of my life.

Then, suddenly I felt a bit of a weight on my body. Turned out Jiang li displaying a rare act of kindness had covered my body with his jacket.

Rubbing my eyes I sat up. Seeing him still standing in front of the couch, I slowly muttered: âOh, you are back.â

Jiang Li saw that I was up so he immediately started yelling at me angrily: âdo you know what you have done? Without intimating me you left your office early. Moreover you did not even pick your phone, causing me to take a useless round trip to your office.â

I looked down âOhâ in a very small voice said: âI am sorry.â

My attitude must have really shocked Jiang Li. So he forgot about rebuking me and instead bent down. He lifted my face and carefully observed it for a minute. Surprised, he said: âWhy are you looking so dull and lifeless?â

I dismissively turned my head away and said: âItâs none of your business.â

Jiang Li stood up. He folded his arms, saying: âThen I should ask something that is my business, have you cooked dinner for me?â

I shook my head; after all I just woke up. Jiang Li frowned and furiously said: âXiao Guan Yan, you are really too much.â

I was about to open my mouth to say something when unexpectedly the âriversâ of the tears started flowing out and I could not hold them in.
Surprise everyone, yeah I decided to pull you out of the misery called ' WHO IS THE OLD FOE" by posting this part of the chapter ahead of the time. but there is a little hitch. Since I have somehow messed up the whole timetable (by posting this part early) I can salvage the situation only by splitting this chapter 22 into three parts.

I always say that I love reading your comments and thoughts, since its the first day of the year so today I have decided to call out the names of some the regular commentators and give them a big hug (although virtual) for their consistent feedback. Thank you Rei Shiki, Lisa Leung, Lacusclyne, animeree, awesomesaucery, fantasyana, Grace Silvano, Midori, Juli, & Flayful designs.

Sorry if I missed any one's name. People who comment under anonymous if its a deliberate choice then no issues but if for some reason you were unable to log in and hence had to comment as anonymous (that's what some readers have pointed out to me) then please leave your name at the end of the comment so that I can remember it and shall post it next time onwards.

As for the other commentators I do read your comments And at times when I find translating this whole thing exhausting and tiring I re-read all your comments to motivate myself. SO please keep sharing your views about the book, about Jiang Li and about our clumsy heroine Xiao Yan.
Chapter 22.2

OLD FOES (2)

When the man saw an unidentified object lunging forward from the outside, he frantically caught that object, me.

I promptly raised my head and wanted to say thank you or sorry or something like that but when I saw his face my mouth could not utter a single word.

Yu Zhi Fei was looking down at me, obviously very shocked at the moment.

I suddenly felt a gust of cold wind on my foot, gradually rising towards my body then my heart grew heavier and soon it started sinking down completely.

Yu Zhi Fei helped me in standing up, looked at me in disbelief and murmured: âYan Yan?â

I pushed him away, awkwardly stood in front of him then said: âExcuse me.â So, he moved aside to let me pass.

After handing over the document file to the marketing manager, I conveniently asked him: âumm,
what is the name of the new marketing director?â

Marketing manager replied: âHis name is Yu Zhi Fei, he just stepped out.â Saying so he glanced at the door and saw Yu Zhi Fei âehh, Director you are still standing here, did not go out yet.â

My heart shuddered a little. After thanking the marketing manager, I bit the bullet. Shutting my eyes,
I trudged towards him, Yu Zhi Fei who was still standing in front of the door like a statue. I bowed my head a little and said: âDirector Yu, Director Wang has invited you to join him in his office.â

Silence.

I thought he did not hear my words so I was about to repeat them. I did not expect him to open his mouth.

He faintly uttered: "Yan Yan.â

âDirector Yu, please call me Secretary Xiao.â I could not dare to look at him thus with my head down I walked out of his office.

From the sound of footsteps I could guess that Yu Zhi Fei was following me.

âŚâŚ

I had heard that a personâs soul can leave his body, considering todayâs experience I could say that it must be this feeling. The kind of feeling where youâre in trance, blank, almost as if your brain was soaked in black ink, lifeless, losing the ability to think completely. Even when Wang Kai talked to me, my spirit did not return.

âSecretary Xiao, why are you looking so ugly today?â

âUm.â

âNot feeling well?â

âUm.â

âXiao Yan, do you want to eat anything special in lunch?â

âUm.â

âWhy donât we go to the restaurants that provide special catering for the couples?â

âUm.â

âYan Yan, there is a better idea, shouldn't we book a room in some good hotel for tonight?â

âUm.â

âXiao Guan Yan, Are you listening to me or not!â

Wang Kai bellowed furiously, making me shiver automatically. I shifted my gaze slowly and looked at him. Bewildered, asked him: âDirector Wang, did you say anything?â

Wang Kai stared at me anxiously and said: âI think you are bewitched by evil.â

I lowered my head: âOh, I am not bewitched, just feeling a little unwellâŚâ

Wang Kai grabbed my wrist and said: âCome on, I will take you to the hospital.â

I retrieved my wrist from his clutch softly and very calmly said: âThere is no need for that but Wang KaiâŚ.can you give me a half day off for today?â

Wang Kai nodded: âWell. I will send you home.â

âNo need, you really donât need to.â I said while stepping out of his office.

âXiao Yan.â Wang Kai suddenly stopped from behind. He hesitated a bit and then said: âIn case there is any problem, do remember to call your boss.â

âOkay, thank you Boss.â
Chapter 22.1

OLD FOES (1)

The âOctober holidaysâ passed by very quickly. Although my mother was getting old but just the name of âfarmhouse and fishingâ had instantly invigorated her.

Of course there still was one thing that was making me feel a little uncomfortable. As per my motherâs confession my father came to meet her during holidays since he wanted to have dinner with both of us. I asked my mother did she say yes to his invitation.

My mother shook her head and told me that she knew he and I were estranged already so she was not sure whether I would agree or not.

I sneered; I most certainly did not wish to meet!!

My mother sighed helplessly, saying she knew I wouldnât agree.
âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ

Happy days always fly quickly, very quickly. With the blink of eye these once-an-year vacations had already ended. People who were supposed to go to school, should go to school and people who were supposed to go to work, should go to work.

On the first day after holidays I went to the company with a completely refreshed mind, might be because I did not have to work for a long time. Brimming with positive energy I reached the office a couple of minutes earlier than the usual. As soon as I stepped inside the company building, I saw Li Mingang of the planning department.

You know how every office has a few employees whoâre over-energetic, well-informed with a very nosy personality and innate ability to read otherâs mind. Almost nothing could escape their eyes, brain and mouth. From the earthquake in Chile to RMB exchange rate, from the scandals of top stars to the idols currently popular over the internet, they are well versed on all kind of potential topics of gossip. Naturally such topics are only the additional spices, their primary focus is any news related to the company. It doesnât matter whether the news is big or small, good or bad, public or private, it will be dipped in their saliva at least once.

Miss Li Mingang perfectly fit the description of such employees.

When I saw her, I smiled and greeted her. I intended to leave swiftly. Who knew this star gossiper was not only eloquent but also lithe.

Agile miss Li caught up with me easily and mysteriously said: âSecretary Xiao, did you hear?â This sentence sounded like the prelude.

I opened my ear and asked: âwhat happened?â

My reaction encouraged her further, with her two irises shining like glitter she said: âa new marketing director has been transferred to our company and he is terribly handsome.â

Oh, a handsome guy. Perhaps because I had been suffering so much due to the handsome guys in my life thatâs why now these handsome guys did not pique my interest at all. Itâs a proven fact that all handsome guys are abnormal. Never mind, straight or homosexual, they all possess sadistic tendencies to some degree!

Li Mingang saw that I did not care. She probably thought that I must not have believed her words so she vowed and said: âItâs true, I saw him with my own eyes! Furthermore he is not just a handsome face he also has this gentle and divine aura. Really classy!â

Even calling him classy, Miss Li was really getting carried away with her emotions. I remained doubtful of her words while she kept bragging about the new marketing director âŚâŚ

The two of us were still talking when suddenly a voice came from behind me: âSecretary Xiao, you came early today, ah.â

I turned around, that two-faced Wang Kai was looking at me. During the last three days we hadnât met, he hadnât changed a bit. An outstanding appearance but wretched disposition.

Li Mingang smiled and in an extremely sweet voice said: âDirector Wang.â

Wang Kai nodded his head once towards her and did not forget to put on his cheap smile that could âkillâ the females in one second. These types of smile have a specific scientific name, called seducing smile. I silently watched him from the side, did not say anything.

When the elevator came, Wang Kai and I entered shoulder to shoulder. He bent down a bit and teased me: âAiya, secretary Xiao, are you jealous?â

I looked up, smiled at him and replied: âMr. Wang, how are you feeling after reinstalling your computer system?â

Wang Kaiâs facial expressions changed instantly. He looked at me angrily and resentfully said: âAll your husband did was a small anti-hacking trick. Even a novice can perform such kind of stunt. You really should not consider him as some big shot.â

Again excuses! I rolled my eyes, too lazy to react to his words.

âŚ.

Wang Kai handed me a document folder, said: âGive this to the manager of marketing department and on your way ask the new marketing director to meet me in my office after a while.â

I silently obeyed. Took the folder form him and left quietly.

As per the rumors, the new marketing director was very handsome. Well, although all the handsome guys I had ever met were contemptible but still I was a little curious to know about the extent of his âterribly handsomeâ handsomeness, not to mention, his classy personality

Before I could open the door of the marketing managerâs office I almost fell down. Perhaps since I was walking too fast, my foot tripped and I slid towards the marketing managerâs office door.

Ideally, at this time a handsome guy should have fallen off from the sky and picked me up, then idealistically we should have fallen in love at the first sight blah blah blahâŚâŚâŚ.of course from my past experience I knew such ideal scenarios never happen in real life. So expecting nothing, I subconsciously grabbed the doorknob in order to avoid plunging towards the ground.

Then, a miracle happened. Just then, someone opened the door from inside, I could not let go of the doorknob immediately and sprang straight towards that other person.

When the man saw an unidentified object lunging forward from the outside, he frantically caught that object, me.
Aloha everyone... At the end of this chapter you will get to see a very new and deeper side of Xiao Yan's old woman. While translating this chapter I could not help but miss my own mom. I also have a very unique and special bond with my mom like Xiao Yan. My mom is my loyal confidante, strongest critic and best friend. Many at times I just need to listen her say rhetorical words like everything will be alright and boom...I immediately start feeling lighter. She is just that magical.....I don't even have the luxury to go and hug her right now since we are thousands of miles apart. Can't visit her before February (Hopefully will be able to go back home for vacations then)....Really MissinG You A lot Mommy :(

Wang Kai Vs Jiang Li (2)

The phrase âX incompetentâ completely angered Jiang Li who was standing behind me; he pushed me away and sat down in front of my laptop, then quietly typed: âI am her X incompetent husband.â

This sentence sounded a bit familiarâŚ..

From the other end, Wang Kai did not respond for a long time.

Then Jiang Li with his long and slender fingers rhythmically tapped the keyboard and said: âToday I will not show YOU my X strength.â

Jiang Li: âI will show my X strength to your computer only.â

I did not react, Jiang Li reopened that black window, quickly tapped some keys on the keyboard.

Then, from that black window a pile of symbols, completely undecipherable to me, jumped out.

I really wanted to pretend as if I understood everything thatâs why I decided to watch him patiently from the side. However it was regrettable that some of those symbols had hypnotic effect, I had looked at them barely for a moment but it was already getting hard for me to stifle back a yawn. It looked like they had similar effect on Jiang Li as well but he was unable to hold back his yawn. Thus I went to the kitchen to brew a cup of coffee for him, as a token of gratitude.

Restarting the laptop Jiang Li took the coffee mug and casually spoke: âYour laptop is really worn out.â

I thought he had lost to Wang Kai so he was giving such excuses. I retorted back: âIf you are not competent enough then say so, donât put blame on my laptop. Itâs not that old.â But it was indeed old, very old, in fact million years old!!

Jiang Li leisurely leaned back on the sofa and said: âTomorrow make something delicious for me.â

Oh my goodness, his shamelessness was really boundless. Even though he was defeated he still had the nerve to ask for a reward?

By this time, the computer had restarted. Jiang Li shifted back to his original position and said: âthe other side can only reinstall the whole system.â

With my eyes flashing like two stars (revering look reserved only for my idols) I looked at Jiang Li and exclaimed: âSo you are really a software engineer, no wonder you are so strong.â

Rubbing the coffee mug in his hand, Jiang Li said: âused to be.â

Inquisitively, I asked: âyou have changed your domain? So what do you do now?â

âNow I can do anything.â Jiang Li replied very arrogantly. Looking down at the coffee mug in his hand, he frowned: âAt such ungodly hour why did you pour me a cup of coffee, to do what?â

Eh, it was way beyond my sleeping time and I was really tired but I still brewed coffee for him in order to refresh him. But this manâs attitude was extremely bad. Instead of thanking me he only knew how to utter nonsense!

Before I could answer his question, he drank his coffee and then frowned deeper: âthis tastes really strange. From next time onward donât make it with so much haste.â

Oh God, for the first time in my life I really wanted to punch someone hard on face!!!!

âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ

When I went to bed at night, I got a message from Wang Kai. The entire message was full of ellipsis. Since I was feeling full of arrogance, I wanted to show off my cool side to him, so I smiled and texted back: âyou are really affected by the whole ordeal. It canât be helped; you need to fight a few more of such face-off rounds in order to get habitual of losing to Jiang Li.â

Wang Kai sent me a blank emoticon and then started neglecting me completely. He did not talk to me for the whole vacation. I thought getting defeated by Jiang Li must have injured his self-esteem deeplyâŚâŚ.Aiya, he asked for it.
âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ..

Although I usually scorned Wang Kaiâs actions but this time his words were not unreasonable. After all the October Holidays* comes only once an year and spending everyday alone at home was very boring. So I decided to go out for some jaunting.

*National Day holidays come in the month of October (1st Oct.)

Going out alone would be boring but going out with Jiang Li would be extremely boring. Plus, there was a high risk of getting bullied by him, He Zhi and her boyfriend were hitting off very nicely, they did not have time to accompany me. Wang KaiâŚ..this fellow just faced a brutal loss at Jiang Liâs hands, so I did not have the nerve to go and look for him. Moreover this guy had always loved the company of beautiful women so why would he spend these long holidays only with the âold meâ?

Well, there was still hope, my mother. One must respect and honor their elders so I decided to spend these hard-to-get holidays with her.

My mother thought that once again I had fought with Jiang Li, I tried to explain for a very long time but she did not believe me. Then she reluctantly (pretending to be reluctant) agreed to come along with me to the farm house on the city outskirt for a short tripâŚ..this old woman was really pesky.

This farm house was a very good place, extremely beautiful scenery and scrumptious food mainly due to the freshness of the ingredients.

Although my mother had a crazy personality but still there was one good trait. Her hobby that was completely inconsistent with her character- Fishing. Earlier I could never understand why did she like fishing so much, since this activity required a lot of patience. Later on, when I followed her on her fishing excursions for a couple of times then I figured out what she truly liked was chatting while fishing. On several occasions, she was simply interested in talking to me without any care about hooking the fishes; until I reminded her then she would leisurely lift the fishing rod and replace the bait.

In short, it could be said that rather than fishing her hobby was to feed fishes.

On our second day at the farm house my mother could not hold any longer and asked me to accompany her for fishing. I obediently complied with her orders.

It was already autumn, on that day the weather was pretty good. With invigorating autumn air and clear lake I was feeling completely relaxed. Suddenly I thought that I should come out on such outdoor activities more frequently, always staying at home would only make me feel moldy.

My mother sat on a boulder, put on fishing bait on the rod and then threw the rod a few times. In such a grand way she began her fishing.

A moment later, she turned towards me, as if she wanted to say something but then she hesitated.

Strange, was there anything that even my mother found hard to talk about? Instantly I got curious and asked: âMom, do you want to pee?â

âUghâ my mother coughed a few times to hide her embarrassment and then said: âXiao Yan, I want to tell you something.â

Me: âwhat?â

My mother said: âa few days ago your father came to meet me.â

I frowned: âThen what, did you knock out his teeth or not?â

My mother helplessly shook her head and said: âHe is your father after all, why do you hate him so much?â

Me: âSo you donât hate him?â

My mother reverted back to her usual crazy-self and sighed: âWhatever happened is history, I donât have the strength to hate him anymore.â

Me: âbut he betrayed you.â

My mother did not answer but asked: âdo you still hate Yu Zhi Fei?â

Yu Zhi Fei? Hearing his name I got a little upset. I did not want to see him, did not want to even mention his name but did I hate him?

Upon seeing my reaction, my mother said: âyou see, you have also let go of Yu Zhi Fei. This world is full of things to love as compared to a few detestable things. All of us should live each and every day of our lives earnestly.â

I raised my head and said: âWho said anything about letting Yu Zhi Fei go? I hate him; I hate all those people who have abandoned me!!â

Her hands, which were holding fishing rod, trembled a bit. She said: âXiao Yan ah, child you are too extreme. You should know that a personâs happiness is not determined by how others treat him but it is determined by how he treats the world.â

I silently looked down.

My mother added: âSilly child, only after letting others go you can release yourself from unnecessary reins.â

FYI people, Not only this book has quite a large number of chapters but these chapters are decently lengthy as well, Thus rather than translating the whole bulk I do it chunk by chunk. Usually I split these chapters into two or three parts on the basis of the number of characters (Chinese alphabets) present in each unit.

Do let me know your thoughts about the title of this chapter. Personally I think that mos of these titles are misleading, like the title of the last chapter 'Emotional Wang Kai' :D

Chapter 21.1

Jiang Li Vs Wang Kai

After my last encounter with Feng Xue Yun in the cafeteria, I never saw him there again. According to Wang Kai, that beauty did not like being noticed, hated crowded places thatâs why he avoided eating lunch at the companyâs cafeteria. Since Wang Kaiâs father and Feng Xue Yunâs father were both biggest shareholders of the Southern Star group so both of them could be considered good acquaintances. Hence the credibility of Wang Kaiâs words was pretty high.

Since then I met Feng Xue Yun only once, needless to say this âcoincidentalâ meeting did not happen in the cafeteria. One morning, when I hurriedly boarded the office elevator while mentally making a resolution to get up five minutes early from next day onward, I found out that Feng Xue Yun was already inside that elevator. He looked at me as if he was looking at a stranger with a totally deadpan expressions. In my heart I sighed darkly. It looked like Jiang Li did a good job with his âexplanationâ to the beauty, I was somewhat relievedâŚâŚAnyway a deadpan face was lot better than a face with too many distressing emotions.

Although I really liked handsome guys but I knew this explicitly that some handsome guys were beyond my reach such as Wang Kai, such as Feng Xue Yun and another example Jiang Li. Then I sadly realized the painful fact that around me there was no shortage of handsome guys, only a normal guy was missingâŚâŚ.

Because they were abnormal thus it was normal for abnormal things to happen, such as this evening.

National day vacation had always been a blissful period. Like always I decided to spend these rare holidays at home leisurely. Therefore there was no running round to anywhere. On the other hand
Jiang Li would vanish every day in the morning only to return at night for dinner.

That night, I was sitting in the living room and surfing internet, when suddenly a black window popped up on my laptop screen. Surely almost everyone must be familiar with such kind of incidents.

My laptop, a thousand year old machine, worked a bit stiffly and rarely hanged as well. I thought it was just one of those times when the laptop would slowly froze so I was about to shut down when an unexpected thing happened.

In the black window on the laptop screen a few words appeared: Xiao Guan Yan?

At that time I had already started losing focus and thought what kind of dramatic scene was unfolding now? Was the laptop, that had lived for thousands years with me, finally calling my name? So I excitedly called Jiang Li: âJiang Li, come and see worldâs most advanced laptop with the top artificial intelligenceâŚ.â

Jiang Li came from behind, glanced at the screen then looked at me like a complete idiot, said: âyour system has been hacked.â

Well, since I was a computer-idiot so for this kind of thing I neither had any experience nor had any thought about such a mysterious topic like Hacking.

And because I was a computer-idiot, so I always admired hackers, thatâs why at the moment I was in awe. With trembling fingers I typed in that black window: âMay I dare to ask the grand expert how you did this?â

The opponent typed back: âI did not expect that it was going to be that easy to hack your computer. Fortunately I am a man with a strong moral character so I did not play much with the settings of your system.â

I was a little annoyed: âwhat do you want?â

The opponent: âJust want to revive your memory; you probably donât even remember me anymore? I donât know why you have been holed up in your home for the past few days but tomorrow we are going out for hiking, okay?â

After listening to this nonsensical and long winded way of speaking, only one image conjured up in my mind, Wang Kaiâs. So regaining my composure, I inquired: âyou are not Wang Kai, are you?â

The other side: âYou finally got it, Xiao Yan. It seems you are getting smarter these days. Tomorrow I will reward you with a hug!!â

I repressed the rising anger in my heart and typed: âItâs getting boring. Will you stop bothering me and get out of my laptop now.â

Wang Kai: âOkay, but I changed a small thing in your laptop. In the next few days you probably will not be able to use it wellâŚ..â

Me: âWhat, exactly, do you want?â

Wang Kai: âTomorrow come with me for hiking, if you do that I will return your laptop settings back to the normal.â

Me: âYou are too mean!!â

Wang Kai: âCome on Xiao Yan, your X incompetent husband does not go anywhere with you. I am kindly offering to take you out to play, how can you call me mean?â

The phrase âX incompetentâ completely angered Jiang Li who was standing behind me; he pushed me away and sat down in front of my laptop, then quietly typed: âI am her X incompetent husband.â

From the other end, Wang Kai did not respond for a long time.
HELLO FELLOW READERS, I AM BACK WITH A REJUVENATED BODY AND MIND. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE KIND COMMENTATORS FOR THEIR WARM WISHES. EARLIER I WANTED TO SPLIT THE FOLLOWING POST INTO TWO PARTS BUT THEN IN ORDER TO SHOW MY APPRECIATION FOR YOUR PATIENCE, I DECIDED TO PUBLISH THE LONGEST POST OF MY BLOG TILL DATE.

Wang Kai chuckled a bit and was about to say something but I interrupted him again: âWhen the two men are together then also they can only talk about bed, right?â

Wang Kai with his eyes, wide-opened with fear, looked at me; trembling like a little bird he put âhisâ peeled shrimp in my bowl.

Now I was burning with humiliation, oh mother, oh grandmother, what the heck did I just say?âŚâŚâŚah, ah, aah, under Jiang Liâs influence my opinion about the world had also become perverted!

I was thinking about what to say in order to restore my image, inadvertently I glanced at the cafeteriaâs entrance and saw a glimpse of a familiar figure. I became speechless from shock.

Wang Kai waved his hand in front of my face: âXiao Yan, Idiot.â

I regained my spirit: âThat, I wanted to ask you, are outsiders like employeeâs family members, friends or relatives also allowed to come and eat in this cafeteria?â he was not an employee of this company so how could such kind of coincidence happen?

Wang Kai shook his head: âI donât know for sure, perhaps notâŚwhy?â

I wordlessly stared at that slender silhouette in the distance, momentarily completely forgot Wang Kai.

Noticing my lack of reaction, Wang Kai also started looking in the same direction as me. Probably, he also saw that man. He chuckled darkly and said: âSo, the red apricot tree is leaning over the garden wall* Itâs not apricot treeâs problem but wallâs problem.â

*the red apricot tree leans over the garden wall or hĂłng xĂŹng chĹŤ qiaĚng is a Chinese Idiom which means a wife having an illicit lover

I looked back at him: âWhat do you mean?â

Wang Kai smiled understandingly and said: âDo not even dream about it, you donât stand a chance.â

I heard him but did not understand him.

Wang Kai turned around and motioned me to see that person in the distance: âyou donât match his taste. A petite and fragile man like him cannot devour a sturdy person like you; if you wish then you can annihilate me as much as you want.â

I shook my head: âyou are mistaken.â

hope you remember xiao yan's rival in love

Just then absentmindedly I saw that slender silhouette, that beautiful man, Jiang Liâs boyfriend (presumably he was). I had the privilege of meeting this pretty man some time ago. I met him on the evening of the day we registered our marriage, he was with Jiang Li. Now he was present here, was he here for an interview? I suddenly remembered when I told Jiang Li the name of my company, he said it sounded familiar. So this beautiful man wanted to work in this company, no wonder, Jiang Li found the name of the company familiar.

I was still lost in my thoughts. Seemingly, that beautiful man must have felt that someone was watching him so he glanced towards our side. Briefly, I forgot to take my eyes off him. He quickly crossed the sea of people in the cafeteria and then unexpectedly, he walked towards us.

Instantly, I became alert. What did he want to do? To provoke me? To create a scene in public?

Very quickly I came to know why this beauty approached me. The cause was very simple, his eyesight was not very good. When he was almost in front of my face, only then he was able to recognize me. Then the expressions on his face changed from doubt toâŚ..disdain? disgust? Jealous? Anger?....In short very complicated, very tangled but one thing was clear that this beauty was certainly very distressed.

So I looked at him and smiled weakly. According to the eye witness, Wang Kai my so called âweak smileâ was more like an ugly cry, a very unsightly expression. It was unavoidable, after all, I was his boyfriendâs wife, yikes, even this sentence was very erratic.

The beauty ignored my goodwill, sneered and walked away.

I could only continue eating my lunch. Anyways, that beautiful guy truly despised me so I had to get accustomed to it.

Wang Kai excitedly asked: âWhat happened? Earlier, it appeared that you two knew each other.â

I unhesitantly started uttering nonsense: âYou did not see. I was trying to lure him but that innocent beauty obviously did not find me up to his standard.â I was crying inside my heart, not only I was scorned by others but now I had to contempt myself with my own mouthâŚ..

Wang Kai smiled proudly and said: âI told you, you really donât stand a chance.â

I raised my head and stared at his face: âHow do you know? Do you know him?â

Wang Kai nodded and said: âhe is the youngest son of the second largest shareholder of the southern star group, just graduated from the university; his father had thrown him here for the training.â

It looked like that the rich peopleâs children, beautiful or not, also had it tough. They also had responsibilities but seemingly heavier.

Considering there was a second so there must be a first too. Thus like any other normal person I also got curious about it and asked: âSo who is the biggest shareholder?â

Wang Kaiâs hand came towards my bowl to pick back âhisâ peeled shrimp and casually replied: âHe is my father.â
âŚâŚâŚâŚ

Through Wang Kai I came to know that the beauty was called Feng Xue Yun. I felt that Wang Kai knew Feng Xue Yun was gay but he did not want to reveal other peopleâs private matters and so was faltering to talk about it. I audaciously told him that I had seen that beautyâs eyes, hence I knew he was gayâŚâŚSince then Wang Kai was firmly convinced that I was a rotten woman because I could not gather the courage to explain him the whole situation clearly. Anyways, things had come to this level, so even if I had tried to elucidate he would not have believed it. That I was really, truly not a rotten woman*

*For those who are still not clear about this ârotten womanâ thing itâs another name for Fujoshi. âFujoshiâ is a self-mockingly pejorative Japanese term for female fans of manga and novels that feature romantic relationships between men.

âŚâŚâŚâŚ..

In the evening, after dinner I decided to talk to Jiang Li about his little snobby beauty, Feng Xue Yun. Why was this fellow so hostile towards me? He surely must have known that there was nothing between Jiang Li and me, right?

So once Jiang Liâs mood elevated after filling his stomach to the brim, I asked: âAh, Jiang Li, do you know whom did I meet at work today?â

Jiang Li who was working on his laptop at this moment with his eyes glued to the screen, asked: âwho?â

Me: âYour boyfriend, Feng Xue Yun.â

Jiang Li in a neither loud nor light tone said: âhmm.â

I waited for a long time but not a single useful word came out of his mouth. This was really too much. Did I prepare for such a long time just to exchange a single useless word with him? So I protested and said: âCan you define your perspective clearly?â

Jiang Li finally looked away from his laptop, turned to look at me and said: âYou want me to say something?â

I wanted him to say something? What kind of attitude was this!

So rather than indirectly, I bluntly asked him: âhe was very hostile towards me. Did you not tell him about the thing between us clearly?â

Jiang Li replied: âI told him that I wanted to marry you.â

I found it a little hard to believe: âOnly that?â

Jiang Li nodded his head in acquiesce.

I sighed, rubbed my forehead and said: âThat man is in love with you; this succinct explanation of yours is not enough! Donât just tell him about our marriage certificate, tell him about our relationship distinctly otherwise he will misunderstand and your feelings will be broken!!â Key point was that earlier that beauty was throwing daggers at me with his eyes, who could tolerate that?

Jiang Li frowned: âHe did not ask about you.â

I slowly realized that there were some matters which black-bellied Jiang Li failed to understand, so I patiently told him: âHe did not ask does not means he knows, there are certain things that must be made clear.â

Jiang Li: âI donât think men think about such nuisances as well.â

âNonsense, how can romance be a nuisance? Tomorrow you must go and explain everything to him. In fact, I think you should not waste time, go right now and clear all the misunderstandings quickly.â
Jiang Li shook his head: âYou go and tell him the whole story.â

I started sweating: âHe hates me, so whatever I will tell him, he will not believe it. Think yourself, in his eyes, I am the woman standing between you and him, why would he believe me?â

Jiang Li thought for a bit and probably realized that the position of âBoyfriendâs wifeâ was really tricky, still he just shook his head and said: âNo, he will understand.â

Me: âNo! You have not seen him today. He was looking at me as if he was looking at heinous criminal as if I was a devil reincarnation. Furthermore we work in the same company and are colleague. If this knot of hatred remains unresolved in his heart, then someday he may murder me! Anyway, both u and I need to work together to resolve this matterâŚâŚ.â

âOkay, okay.â Jiang Li massaged his temple, no longer able to stand my long-windedness: âI just want to say that if women are troubles then men are also troubles.â

I thought in my heart, so now you could go find yourself a hog to love. Since pigs would not be so troublesome!!!!!
Dear peeps, thank you for your warm wishes but it turns out what I thought was a common flu was instead a severe viral infection. And as if that's not enough from God knows where I have caught UTI also. I had to spend the entire Thanksgiving holidays in bed only. :(
As, I am still recovering, my work's not very prompt but I am still gonna try my best..:)

Some of you may find the ending of this post too abrupt, well that's bcz it is abrupt since I am feeling too sleepy at the moment (due to the strong antibiotics for UTI) and can't continue any further. I guess nap time is up.....Zzzzzz
I did not know what evil had hit Wang Kai, but suddenly he became very enthusiastic about cafeteria food. So, every day at noon he would drag me to the staff cafeteria and happily ate his lunch there.

Anyways, it did not matter to me, as long as the food was hygienic enough to eat. After all, no food could be as delicious as the food cooked by my mother.
Since we were coming to the cafeteria almost every day so the other employees were no longer staring at Wang Kai, as if they were looking at an alien. Except for the sharp and resentful gazes of some female employees pointed at me.

Holding a tray full of shrimps Wang Kai sat beside me: âSecretary Guan, arenât you my private secretary?â

The corners of my mouth twitched a little, it was such a redundant question. Otherwise why else would he address me as âsecretary Guan.â

Wang Kai pushed his tray of shrimps in front of me, smiled and said: âWell, then peel these shrimps for me?â

I ignored that extremely appetizing plate of shrimps and said: âI am your secretary, not servant.â

Unexpectedly, Wang Kai in a very soft voice said: âGood Xiao Yan, peel it for me!â

I felt nauseated and seriously wanted to remind him that he was simply too old to act so childishly.

But considering his abnormal personality and thick-skin, I presumed he would not care about my words, so raising my eyebrow, I fiercely said: âYou donât have your own hands?â

Wang Kai did not mind a bit, picked up a shrimp and smiled: âHere, I will give you one to peel.â

MeâŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ

Wang Kai was one of those people whoâre not fond of speaking truth, but the sentence he repeatedly used to speak earlier was quite true, his favorite phrase âenergetic man.â Even for a simple meal he came up with so many tricks, for sure, his brain was brimming with too much energy.

I thought this person was slovenly which he certainly was, when the work was light but who knew he would actually be this capable. Not only was he able to do his share of work fairly but also many at times when as his secretary I sent the mails without careful consideration, he discovered and corrected them easily. Company employees really admired him although there were many people who did not like him such as those male staff members who could not find girlfriends and the women who had lost their virginity to him {okay I must tell that even though I too did not like him but I did not lose my virginity to him, itâs just that I did not like his teasing)

Now I started peeling the shrimp with my fingers, sighed and said: âYou are really too bored.â

Wang Kai proudly said: âWhat are you so unsatisfied with. Do you know how many women here want me to give them these shrimps to peel, forget about peeling shrimps, they are willing to peel off their clothes tooâŚâŚ..â

âStop. stop.â Embarrassed, I coughed for a couple of minutes, âhow can you wander off to such kind of topic?â this could only mean that he started the whole thing for this onlyâŚ..

Wang Kai added further to my dissatisfaction by displaying his disdain attitude: âWe are all adults here; you donât need to pretend to be so pure in front of me. Furthermore, you are already married but then again the perverted man you are married to is just useless.â

I frowned and retorted: âDidnât you say that you are a man of boundless charms with a lot of girlfriends? Ever since I have started working here as your secretary, I have never seen a single woman around you. Apparently, for a handsome guys like you itâs alright to brag, hmm?â

Wang Kai in a very natural tone said: âI have reached my saturation level. Anyways, girls are too turbulent and I want to lead a quiet life for a few days.â

I nonchalantly said: âHaah, keep continuing your fabrications.â

Wang Kai: âYou still donât believe my charms, ah, itâs true I used to stay in my bed withâŚ.â

I waved my hand and interrupted his words and asked: âother than these things, canât you talk about something else?â

Wang Kai with his âinnocent faceâ replied: âWhen a man and a woman are together, other than bed, what else can they talk about?â

I did not have enough words to rebuke him: âHow can you say such shameless words!!â

Wang Kai chuckled a bit and was about to say something but I interrupted him again: âWhen the two men are together then also they can only talk about bed?â

Wang Kai with his eyes, wide-opened with fear, looked at me; trembling like a little bird he put the peeled shrimp in my bowl.
Chapter 19.2

The bedroom murder

Jiang Li and my mother were completely in sync with each other, she was behaving as if he was her biological son whereas the poor I, was being ill-treated and tortured by these two vicious people, whereâs the justice in this world!!!

At noon, when my mom was cooking food for lunch I took the opportunity to say: âMom, Jiang Li loves spicy food. The spicier, the better.â

She looked at me with disdain and said: âI had asked him earlier and he said that other than spicy food he can eat anything.â

Realizing that my little scheme had failed, I immediately left the territory. Anyways, considering how Jiang Li and my mother had joined hands itâs almost impossible to take advantage of any loop hole.

Naturally, just the thought of this evil combination of âmother-sonâ was enough to make me feel depressed. And at night during dinner one more disturbing element came to increase my suffering-my motherâs daughter.

My sister that is âmy motherâs daughterâ and my mother did not share any blood ties but the key point was that this D-cup girl, He Zhi, was without any doubt my motherâs daughter.

As a daughter I was being constantly scolded by mother, as a sister I was scorned by my sister and as a wife I was being trampled down by my husband. Now, I really had a good reason to believe that I was seriously given a wrong script for the play called âlifeâ!!!

Anyway, this dinner was a hit; both the guests and hosts were thoroughly enjoying themselves. Two people were castigating, the third one was silently watching while the fourth one quietly shed tears in her heartâŚâŚ.I finally made a very wise decision that was : Never offend Jiang Li and even if I somehow offend him then must not let these two heartless lunatics enjoy at my expenseâŚâŚ

After dinner, Jiang Li took my hand, hastily bid goodbye to mom and He Zhi, then put me in the car and sped away.

I obediently sat in the car, without uttering a word.

Jiang Li looked at me from the rear mirror and asked: âAre you still angry?â

I snapped back: ânonsense, why donât you try and see how it feels when you are alienated by your own family and friends.â

Jiang Li: âI did not know that the whole matter will take such a serious turn, I just wanted to meet your mother and say hello.â

I shook my head and feebly said: âThere is no need for such pretensions anymore, you calculated everything really well.â

Jiang Li with a somewhat innocent look said: âI just wanted to give you some face, wanted to see a fresh expression on your face for a change. Who knew you would refuse even this little humility.â

No red face, no breathlessness, such shameless attitude. It seemed the thickness of Jiang Liâs skin had reached the same level as my mother.

Jiang Li who now was relatively timid because of his sinister deeds, decided to compromise first:
âWell, in the future donât talk about the topic of separation so casually.â

In a bit conciliatory tone I said: âIt was you who talked about separation.â

Jiang Li added: âLater you canât starve me to death.â

Me: âFirst of all, you know that you wonât die so easily.â

After a while, Jiang Li opened his mouth again: âWhere is your office? If itâs on the way, I can pick you up daily.â

I assessed him skeptically: âWhy are you trying to be so nice to me?â

Jiang Li bluntly spoke: âI have no confidence in your character.â Perhaps this snippersnapper was still afraid that I wouldnât cook for him daily.

I had to tell him my office address.

After listening to my words Jiang Li was a little dazed. Bored with his reaction, I asked: âSo? Is it far from your office?â

âNoâ Shaking his head, Jiang Li said: âit just sounds somewhat familiar.â

The reputation of XXX advertising company was quite high in the industry so I did not find it strange that Jiang Li was familiar with it, thus I did not think much about it.

However, very soon, I came to know about the meaning behind this so called âfamiliar.â
Hii...Quite a lot of readers have asked me this question that how do I do these translations considering my zero percent competency in the Chinese language. As per the comments, some of you have tried to google translate the book on your own also but found it too confounding. I can feel your pain though. Since a couple of years ago I had also tried to read one or two C-novels using the same approach but always felt as Alice from Alice in wonderland. So today I thought I will brief you guys about my translating ordeal.

First of all let me make something clear to everyone. When we say a book is machine translated & edited doesn't mean that you can just google translate the book, do some grammatical editing and then copy-paste the text. Nah. because that way the result will be completely indecipherable let alone enjoyable. I start this mundane process by using two different translating tools, then I read, read and re-read the mumbo-jumbo these machine translators spew till I come up with a somewhat sensible and readable work. Post that I compare and evaluate both the translated works of the same chapter to see if there is anything (be it a dialogue or an emotion or a simple gesture) missing. After making a final rough draft, which is basically formed after conjugating the two translations, I type the whole thing in my own words and insert some pictures. That's the reason I always call this project my own rendition of the novel. By the time the chapter becomes publishable, I get too tired to do the final check and thus would almost always publish it without doing any proofreading. So kindly pardon all my grammatical errors in the past or current posts.

Though not as laborious as the real C-to-E translators but my job is still a little onerous thus whenever I read your kind words and comments it truly rejuvenates me. So, once again a big Thank You to all you wonderful readers and commentators.

Chapter 19.1

The Bedroom Murder (1)

In order to remain true to my âstruggleâ against Jiang Liâs exploitation, I secretly sent him a text message: âYou donât have to come tomorrow; I will not be at my motherâs place.â For the victory of proletarian revolution, telling occasional lies is essential.

A moment later, Jiang Li replied: âYou indeed are very bad at the language. Actually, I could sense the vulnerability in your first sentence itself.â

I supposed that he was trying to probe deeper: âYou can believe whatever you want to believe.â

Jiang Li: âWell, I will still drop by your motherâs house tomorrow to say hello.â

Me: âMy mother does not like you.â

Jiang Li: âThen, I have all the more reason to curry favor with her.â

Me: âHey, I am really not there.â

Jiang Li: âNo problem, I will see it with my own eyes when I will go there tomorrow.â

Me: âDonât force me.â

Jiang Li: âI am too lazy to force you but if you donât want to worry your mother unnecessarily then you know where you should be tomorrow.â

Jiang Li could breakthrough in any fight against others only with his words, a really frightening ability. I looked at his alarming yet short text message and decided to compromiseâŚ..and ladies, I honestly advise you to never marry a too smart guy otherwise in the future you will be played around till you die!

âŚâŚ

The next day which was a Saturday morning I was sleeping soundly in my motherâs bed while she was already up. Suddenly, the old lady with an iron like grip shook me up, saying: âdaughter, Jiang Li is here.â

I somehow made a consenting sound, leaned down and continued to sleep. Thereâre so many strange people in this world such as my mother and Jiang Li, weekends are supposed to sleep in till late, why did they get up so early!!

With my eyes still closed, I heard my motherâs âYou should wake her up now.â and then she went out. I silently shed tears in my heartâŚ.

Jiang Li standing by my bed, called: âXiao Guan Yan.â

I was feeling very sleepy and wanted to sleep more so I did not bother and just ignored him. After grunting a bit, twisting and turning in the bed; holding the blanket I went back to sleep.

Jiang Li in a threatening tone said: âIf you do not get up immediately, I will strip off your clothes.â

How dare he! This was my turf! I racked my sleepy and dull brain to think about the probability of his attack and finally concluded that it was zero. Just now, he must be teasing me. He would not dare to assault his wife at her motherâs home, would he? With this thought, I intended to sleep at ease again.

Who knew that Jiang Li would not only remove my blanket but would also put his hand on my shoulder!!1 I quickly turned around, as if I was electrocuted, and shrugged off his hand. Then fiercely glared at him: âWhat are you doing?â Oh God, I was being bullied in my own territory.

Jiang Li with his arms crossed a trace of complacency floating on his face, bowed his head down a bit and raised his eyebrow: âWhat did I do?â

I picked up a teddy bear from the bedside, tossed it towards his face and fiercely yelled: âGet out!â

Jiang Li swiftly caught the teddy bear and then very naturally sat down beside me on the bed. He stared at me for a moment then suddenly as if he was in a very low spirit said: âMy wife, please donât be angry with me anymore, okay?â

I almost thought that I had misheard, was heâŚ.he mentally defected, ah? Although Jiang Li spoke such words with a deadpan expression but his voice, that voice just like his handsome and gentle face was deadly.

Jiang Li tossed me a glance, and then his lips curled up slightly; it seemed as if he was waiting for an upcoming joke. This certainly did not look good, it was foreboding.

Oh God, the rabbit was anxious to bite the bait and the tiger was waiting patiently for him to take the bait, was he playing âHello kittyâ game with me? Anger rose from my heart and engulfed my whole being; I pushed him on the bed, riding on his body I grasped his neck lightly and ferociously asked: âWhat the hell are you planning?â

Without any resistance, Jiang Li quietly let me torture him. I thought this was his way of repentance, thus I reduced the force with which I was holding his neck, and after all, murdering someone was a crime, so I decided to extend his dog life!

Naturally, I forgot one thing, did Jiang Li has any sense of morality? Just as I let my guard down, he surprised me with his actions. He caught hold of both my hands and after inhaling air deeply, in a horror filled voice said: âHelp! Xiao Yan, are you going to murder your husband, ah?â as he finished saying so, he put my hands back on his neck.

I marveled at his act, completely flabbergasted. However at this moment, the door of the room abruptly opened with a âbangâ, my mother who was standing in the doorway saw our little debauched but very violent scene.

Mother angrily marched in and separated me from Jiang Li. She knocked on the side of my head and heatedly said: âYou damn girl, you did not understand anything from my yesterdayâs lecture. You want to infuriate me to death, ah!â

I sat down on the bed enabling my mother to ravage me completely. Then I realized what just had happened. My mother must have been eavesdropping at the door, considering her wretched character; she was truly capable of doing such a despicable thing. Thus my mother overheard, which I did not know but Jiang Li knew so he allowed me to abuse him and then looked for the help at the exact right time so that I was caught red handed by my mother.

Jiang Li was such an evil guy! Now I truly wanted to break his head and pull out his pig brain from insideâŚ..To see how his well-developed and evil brain could be so destructive.

Jiang Li rubbed his neck, looked at my mother, laughed a bit and said: âMother, donât blame Xiao Yan. She and I were just joking.â

My mother listened to his words, slapped my head and hotly said: âJoking? Is taking someoneâs life a joke?â

I would endure!

Jiang Li raised his hand and patted the place on my head where my mother had just hit. Then, he pulled me in his arms: âMother, you take a break, I will persuade her.â

My mother finally discerned that too much interference between a coupleâs matters was not right. She had already committed a mistake by eavesdropping on our bedroom matters. She kindly smiled at Jiang Li and said: âthen mother will leave her to you, if she does not listen to you then feel free to strangle her.â Saying so, she turned to leave.

I resentfully looked at her retreating back. After she closed the door, I pushed Jiang Li away and glowered at him.

Jiang Li innocently stared at me, whispered: âWho told you to not go back with me?â

In a fit of rage I kicked his foot: âGet out! This old woman here needs to change her clothes.â
Aloha peeps....Just came back from a Halloween-bash. Just so you know, I went there as a dragon-mom. And now you might think how can one get dressed as dragon-mom well it's simple wear a green tube dress with red pumps, throw in a cute dragon ear cuff and hold a dragon-egg (in my case it was my one year old son in a dragon costume) & Tadah....You are done!!!! hahaha...

It was not exactly a 'good costume' for Halloween, my first choice was to go as maleficious but I could not find the right dress & with the baby and all it was kind of difficult to arrange everything. So, I just made use of whatever was available at home without buying a single thing. And somehow unexpectedly, we never had to tell anyone exactly what we were supposedly dressed as (Phew....)
We, the mother-son duo (father aka my hubby went as himself + devil ears), got loads of compliments which totally made my day...ah night. So I decided to share my happiness with you guys by presenting you the rest of chapter 18. Read it and enjoy & don't forget to comment because I love to read them..
When I returned home, my mother was glued to the TV in the living room. When she saw me there, the first thing she did was pinch her thigh to make sure that she was not disillusioned then sprang up from the sofa and rushed towards me with gleaming eyes: âthis girlâŚwhy did you come without telling me first?â

I smiled and said: âI just wanted to surprise you.â

We, mother and daughter, had not seen each other for about one month so ideally we should have first hugged and then asked about each otherâs well-being. Of course this scenario was apt only for an ordinary family and my mother was far from being normal or ordinary.
After an emotional moment, she again sat back on the sofa. While completely neglecting her daughter she restarted watching TV. Oh God, she was such a heartless mother.

Resentfully, I walked over and sat beside her and pulled her arm like a baby, I whined: âMom, are you not happy that I am back?â

Exposing my true intention in one sentence she said: âyou heartless girl, if not due to your and Jiang Liâs fight, will you still have come here?â

I exclaimed internally how come all of a sudden my mother was possessed by Zhuge Liang* but I was more or less guilty of the crime. These past few days had been very chaotic for me since I was really busy with job-hunting, did not find even a little bit of time to visit my mother for a while. Oh God, I was truly reprehensible! Children must not learn from me, I did not have filial piety; I had become a villain in my own eyesâŚâŚ

*Zhuge Liang: A highly intelligent man who was an accomplished military strategist, statesman, scholar & inventor in the Three Kingdom Period.

My mother finally pulled away her eyes from TV to look at me, rubbed my head a bit and said: âSo, what happened between you and Jiang Li?â

I tried to play dumb: âEverything is fine between us. I just wanted to give you a surprise visit. Why are you askingâŚâŚâ

Suddenly, my mother lightly knocked my head to express her doubt about my words. Then she said: âXiao Yan, you are still too young to fool your mother.â Gee, even her posture resembled that of a triad boss.

I finally realized that my normally crazy mother knew me really well and she could see my heart like a mirror, crystal clear!

I was thinking about how to explain the whole matter to my mother and at the same time create a heinous image of Jiang Li in motherâs eyes, when home phone rang. My mother left me to pick up the phone.

Then, I sadly noticed that the phone call was from Jiang Li. If this wicked guy had called to complain about me then my old lady was going to denounce me.

There was such a stark contrast between her attitude towards me and towards Jiang Li; it made me wonder once again, whether this old lady and I truly shared the same DNA or not? At this moment, she was smiling and chatting pleasantly with Jiang Li, occasionally interjecting one or two sentences like âI know that Xiao Yan is over pampered and naive, she does not understand.â âTomorrow I will send her back to apologize to you.â on and so on. Should a real blood mother use such kind of words for her only childâŚâŚ
the Old lady is back

My mother hung up the phone and turned to reinstate my ideological education. From how difficult it is for a mother to give birth to a child, to how we only get one life to live so we must cherish all the happiness regardless of circumstances, then how lonely her precious son-in-law must be feeling at the moment and then she went through all the big and small mistakes, every single of them, that I had committed in the last twenty years followed up by exchanging views (Of course, it was only her opinion) about the reason behind mine and Jiang Liâs fight. Finally she reached the conclusion: Xiao Guan Yan, you really deserve to be thrashed!

I felt like an ashen cactus plant, shrunk in the corner of the sofa, enjoying the watering from my motherâs mouth. Of course cactus, good or bad, is prickly so I also fought back: âMom, it takes two to tango, Jiang Li is also wrong.â

My mother said: âwhen a person is attacked, itâs only justified to fight back or else should he wait till he is beaten to death.â

Me: âHe attacked me first, he threatened me.â

My mother: âFortunately, there are some things with which he can threaten you; otherwise you intend to listen to Heavens only.â

Me: âMom you have been deceived. Since he wickedly made the complaints first so you are prejudicially siding with him.*â

*Xiao yan wants to say that the first impression holds an important role. As the first person to make a complaint he has already ingrained his image as the victim in her motherâs mind which Xiao Yan is unable to change now with her words.

Mother: âNonsense, when Jiang Li called he kept on apologizing to me, saying he did not take good care of you. So why is he wicked? I think the one who is whining and throwing weight around is you, you are wicked. You are a sinnerâŚâŚ.â

Me: âŚâŚâŚâŚâŚ

Jiang Li had done a very good job as a villain and I had once again successfully failed.

Mother in law shared an unbreakable bond with son in law but the birth mother did not even trust her own daughter, this was such a human tragedy, ah!

My mother ultimately announced: âJiang li will come tomorrow to pick you up.â

Aggrieved, I said: âI wonât go back.â

My mother nonchalantly said: âThat will be all the more better. Tomorrow when he comes, he need not go as well then both of you can stay here with me.â

Me: !!!

As if falling was not enough, now I had to lie down flat as well. I promptly thought of He Zhi.

Even my real mother did not want me. Would He Zhi be willing to take me in or not? I was wondering about it and then started imagining how I could express my misery very deeply and vividly in front of her, when my mobile rang.

Sure enough, twin hearts have telepathic connection. Just as I was thinking about calling her, she called me. I happily picked up the phone: âHe Zhi, I was thinking about you only.â

He Zhi did not even acknowledge me and just started shouting from the other side: âDamn it, Xiao Yan, you still run away from home?â

Me: ????

Without any delay He Zhi started to preach me about my ârunning away from homeâ problem: âAs a couple, whatever problem both of you have with each other, you should sit together and talk about them clearly. How can you think that running away from home will solve everything? I did not expect this from you.â

Me: âThat is, how did you come to know..â

He Zhi: âJiang Li was afraid if you were in any trouble or anything so he called me up to check if youâre with me or not.â

I sneered: âHe has such a big mouth.â

He Zhi: âShut up, he was really worried about you.â

Me: âso why didnât he call me?â

Smirking, He Zhi said: âlooks like you are simply jealous? Of course he will find it embarrassing to call you considering how you two had just quarreled. WellâŚSee your husband is so concerned about you. What are you so unsatisfied with?â her last sentence was in a completely menacing tone.

I shiveredâŚ..concerned? He called to instigate everyone, right? My real mother, my best friend, he turned everyone against me, forcibly made me homeless so that I was left with no other choice but to return back to his home obediently! What a conniving jerk, this guy war really too bad!
